Everything’s just great: the location, view, staff, and owner. The architecture of the place is amazing and the walls allow for a pleasant room climate without AC. Surf just around the corner.

A really special place. Aesthetically stunning with natural building materials and beautiful planting in the most exceptional setting. We felt so relaxed here. The music was consistently good, the food was lovely, and there’s a strong sustainable ethos (zero plastic, water refills as standard). The staff are caring and thorough, and the place is faultlessly clean. It’s a short walk to a spectacular bay for surfing, wave jumping with kids, strolling and swimming. Highly recommend this wonderful place.

Beautiful property with lovely clean rooms. Ceiling fan seemed to work well for keeping you cool in the night. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant is banging! It’s more on the pricey side but worth the money. The smash burger is world class and a good size!

We absolutely loved our 2 weeks stay at Bukit Samudra, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable with views over the ocean and mountains. Julien the owner and all of the staff were super helpful during our stay, they arranged a scooter for us and made sure we had everything we needed! The hotel is located 2 minutes from the beach and there are many fun waves to surf nearby. There is also a great restaurant with vegetarian options, and the dishes are delicious, highly recommend the chocolate fondant and the creamy lemon Mahi. Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Kertasari!

Style and location and vibe and everything other

The buildings are new and look great, are very spacious and comfortable. There's great views from the balconies, especially in the mornings. Highly recommend getting up for sunrise

The bathroom needed a good clean as there was shaving hairs in one of the sinks. Our room didn't come with a water fountain, whereas the others all had their own. Our other room's water fountain had no water in it. All the bedroom walls are slatted screens that are angled downwards, meaning anyone walking by can see into your room. Whilst the slats keep the room cool at night by allowing a draught, the slats should've been orientated upwards. There's no privacy in the room because of this. We could also hear the next rooms video streaming easily. We felt the restaurant food was very overpriced for the area and the portions were small. I ordered an expensive main meal of sweet and sour chicken, only to realise it didn't include any rice, so had to order that separately. My son ordered an expensive burger and was told it was very large, it wasn't, so had to order more food for him after that. The pricey quesadillas were very small too and the Pandan pudding didn't have any pandan in it. I took it back and they still put it on the bill. The restaurant experience really let the place down. Needs decent portions and for goodness sakes add rice with the curry dishes and fries with the burger.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bukit Samudra. We decided last minute to stay two nights in West Sumbawa, just to see a bit more. When we arrived here, we were so impressed and ended up extending our stay 2 times, cause we felt so at home and the staff was so kind and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean. We loved the breakfast and overall food, there was many vegan options which i loved! They rented us a scooter and we went to a few nice beaches and a waterfall nearby. There is a beach about 8 min walk. You can always ask for advice what to see and do there, to which places to go to. They even arranged us a taxi very quickly on our way to the accomandation, because our other taxi had a flat tire and we were stranded. They also have two very cute dogs, fiona and shrek!! If I could, I would’ve stayed longer. So all in all: If u visit Sumbawa, a stay at bukit samudra is a must. Great place and wonderful People. You will feel at home.
