Cedar Hill Lodge - A Boutique Homestay

Even though the owner was away during my visit, Raju bhaiya and Bablu bhaiya were incredibly friendly and consistently made me feel right at home. I was preparing for a high-altitude trek, and they gave me excellent local recommendations—including a gorgeous 17km scenic walk through nearby forests and villages, and a challenging run down and back up the forested hillside. The chef was also away during my stay, but the duo stepped up and prepared lovely, simple parathas for breakfast each morning. On my first evening, they made a delicious, comforting home-cooked dinner of jeera aloo, roti, daal, and rice. They were always eager to help with logistics, from arranging taxis to handling laundry. The property itself is incredibly peaceful. Even on overcast days, the views from the veranda were great. I spent an entire day just relaxing on the swing chair, listening to music and taking in the scenery. It’s also a social place; I really enjoyed chatting with other interesting guests in the lounge during the evenings. Plus, the nearby restaurants are excellent.

One small suggestion: It would be helpful to clarify the prices of the prepared meals upfront so guests aren't surprised by the bill at checkout.

Great location, close to the market and less than an hour away from Shimla. The comfort of home food and the view is their selling point!
