A very lovely stay, even though it was only for one night. We booked a lovely dinner on the night we arrived - highly recommend it. The house is big and had all the amenities one could think of. The host (2 brothers) were also a perfect guide, for our tour the next morning

We are a family of 5 people and have spent 2 nights in this wonderful place. The place is very comfortable and very well located to explore the area. Furthermore the hosts are wonderful people, very helpful and very friendly. What is also very nice is that they can cook good dinner and breakfast if needed. A big thank you to Omeed the landlord's brother, a professional guide, who took us to beautiful places. He knows very well the place and knows how to adapt to the kids in order to make the experience wonderful !! A big thank you, best stay in Oman !!

House is very clean an tidy

The whole house was there for us, with big rooms. The view from the outside was just fantastic. Homeed, our host was very kind, a great guide who took us with car to see the canyon while raining. We had very nice dinner and breakfast also! Thank you!!

The place is very remote, so if you need anything, food, etc. You have to do some shopping before coming up here.

My family stayed at Saltan’s house for 2 nights and 1 night at the Sama heights resort (because we’d like to summit Jabel Shams with our 6 yrs old daughter and Sama is close to the trail). In our opinion, Saltan’s house not only offers better value than Sama heights, but much better way to experience the warm and authentic Omani hospitality - if we were to hike the summit again, we would have stayed at the guest house for 3 nights instead of Sama heights because: 1 the house offers better view than even the Mountain View room of the Sama heights; 2 the 30 mins drive from the guest house to the starting point of the hike offers amazing views of the surrounding area 3 the food (be sure to arrange a BBQ with Saltan and/or his brother Hamid) is much better than Sama heights Saltan’s brother Hamid is both fluent in English and have a deep knowledge of the Jabel Shams area, I started with asking his advice about best places to visit in Jabel Shams, in the end he helped us organising one of the most amazing hiking holidays we had, from transportation logistics (from Muscat to Wakan, to Jabel Akhdar, then to Jabel Shams and returning to Muscat) to taking us around to see the best view points in the area like Wadi Damm Pools, which is situated at a stunningly bend of the Canyon, to taking us to the best local restaurants, to prepare the snacks and lunch for the hiking to Jabel Shams summit… In our experience, Hamid is the best guide we’ve met, unlike ones who works for a tour company, Humid is a genuine local with deep knowledge and a warm heart to help - he has hiked many of the peaks around the Jabel Shams and Jabel Akhdar area. When we completed the hike much later than expected, he called multiple times to make sure we’re ok and offered help whenever we needed. Although Saltan does not speak English, he is also super kind and friendly, he and Hamid organised the best authentic BBQ, from coal to food preparation (yes, the coal is freshly burnt from wood)

Location and for the sunset - amazing Peaceful Sultan and his cousin are really nice and make everything for us to be comfortable
