Field Island Villa - Ahangama

Located beautifully up above Ahangama town, among the rice fields. It’s a very peaceful quiet part of town, close enough to get wherever you’d like to within 5 minutes but just far enough that you feel like you’re in a totally different place.

Field island vila has been my home for the past 3 months. I started off with one month and decided to stay longer. When I did a trip inland I was happy to say to go home again. Which I really called this place! The place of Sampath and his wife is in the middle of the rice fields, and on the other side just 5 min with the bike to the first beach. 10 min to city center ahangama. It’s a quiet place. The kitchen is a big big plus! Either mornings, afternoons or dinners; you can make everything! Waking up in the rice fields, knowing that the surf is around the corner. If you want any food cooked for you sampath can arrange it for you. So yeah if you want to stay in the quiet knowing that the exciting ahangama, beach, surf or another place is close by, I would definitely recommend sampaths place! For me my home in srilanka ✨

This place is really magical, in between the jungle, the animal sounds there where incredible. You have to wake up for the sunrise, its unreal :-). . When you wanted to have a quite and nice place, go there, its worth it. The best place in Sri Lanka / south Coast to stay. The owner is such a sweet Person, he asked us everyday for breakfast and helped us in many other things as well. You can rent a scooter there. If you feel hot very fast, dont take a room without an AC. Thank you so much for everything, hope to come back one time :-)

I really loved my stay at Field Island Villa. The family is super cute and the room was comfortable and clean. I felt safe - especially as a female solo traveller. Surounded by ricefields, very calm and close to the beach too (5-10 min walk)! I really recommend staying there.

Beautiful location in the rice field, but had some trouble finding Tuktuks that wanted to drive this far up from the beach.

It said the rooms had AC on booking.com, however when we arrived they explained that there was only one room with AC, and we had the two rooms without. It was so hot. So many mosquitos. Not possible to sleep. We left early because we couldn’t handle the heat/sauna in the room. I got a heat rash and so many bites, and needed medical attention :( This is the tropics, and bugs will be wherever you are, however the rooms were not clean, a lot of spiderwebs, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and the mattress smelled (probably from a lot of people sweating through the night with no AC).

The view is amazing! The location is perfect: away from busy city street and in the middle of the rice/paddy fields with the nature sounds and some night amazing stars watching from the roof top. The owners are so sweet and the extra breakfast is worth to take. From here I made many trips through more ricefields and to the beach and town.
