Ekkerøy Lodge - Arctic living under the northern lights

One of the best places we've ever been to. Steinar, our host, was extremely helpful at all times. Not that we needed him much because everything was perfect. I mean, arriving in a heated up house with chocolates and a bouquet of red roses on the table - you cannot get a warmer welcome than that! Great location - supermarket and gas station 12 km away in Vadso. Parking is front of the house. The full glass view to the sea is amazing. The beds are very comfortable. The house (studio design) was 100% clean and very modern. The kitchen was fully equipped. Great flat screen TV. A lovely fireplace. Outside there is a sauna cabin which is wood-fired with a view to the sea (no sweat (haha) at all to get it hot!). Enough wood is supplied for everything! We enjoyed the quietness - it is a wonderful place to relax and calm down from stressful days.

Huippu sijainti, rauhallinen, siisti ja viihtyisä. Tynnyrisauna oli ihana plussa. Maisemat olivat upeat. Omistaja oli huomioinut meidät, pöydällä oli kauniita ruusuja ja maistuvia makeisia. Tunsi itsensä tervetulleeksi.

We had a great time here! We spent the days exploring nearby hiking trails, and evenings enjoying the view at the house. Being Finns, we naturally appreciated the sauna a lot :) One small, nice touch we liked was that all necessities like detergents and toilet paper were provided for the entire stay (which is surprisingly often not the case). The master bed was good and the kitchen had all you need to cook nice meals.

As barbecue enthusiast, I would have appreciated a better grill. Charcoal is great, but even the most basic Weber is miles ahead of the cheapest supermarket kettle grills :)

Olipas tyylikäs paikka yksityiskohtia myöten! Tilat olivat perheelle hyvät; keittiössä on tarpeeksi kaikkea ja laadukas meininki astioita myöten. Kuivaava pyykinpesukone. Ja söpö sauna!

Wir waren bereits das zweite Mal in der Ekkeroy Lodge und wurden am Ankunftstag mit Blumen und Leckereien überrascht. Die Gastgeber haben auf unseren Wunsch hin die Küche sogar mit einer neue Mikrowelle ausgestattet. Sie sind sehr aufmerksam und jederzeit per mail erreichbar. Wir fühlen uns in dem geräumigen Haus mit grosser Fensterfront zum Meer hin sehr wohl. Die Betten, ausgestattet mit toller Bettwäsche, sind sehr gut. Man kann vom Haus aus die Halbinsel Ekkeroy sehr gut fussläufig erkunden. Die Orte Vadso und Vardo sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen.

Es war alles perfekt, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Bathroom could be better designed and finished

WOW! Incredible spot right on Ekkerøy Beach with all the amenities for an exceptional stay. Tastefully decorated with a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and lovely sauna. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
