Thirsk Stays - Bakery Cottage

Fantastic location and charming ambience near to river with direct foot access to the Market Square. Quirky cottage. Room lighting. Adequate range of kitchen equipment, welcoming drink packets and biscuits. Controllable heating. Lots of local brochures. Full explanation of facilities in handbook.

Host wanted to advise us lockbox number by phone using feature we did not understand. But it did come on email via Booking the day before we travelled, We struggled a bit to find the right cottage - photo very helpful. Light over washbasin not working. Would have liked wash basin or plug for sink. We would prefer induction hob to old type electric hob. (NB fridge freezing compartment frozen solid. Will need turning off for a while to defrost.)

Very clean private parking close to the centre

Great location-easy walking access to town. Very well kept and quaint mews setting. Reallywell equipped for a small cottage with plenty of hot water and and bed very comfy.

Stairs very steep, but only to be expected in type of accommodation. We stayed only one night, so was not an issue and took upstairs only what we need to avoid unnecessary trips with bags etc as it was very warm day on arrival.

Struggled on spiral staircase, but I managed and it probably did me good 👍

Great location

On the night we stayed we where woken by people in the houses at the back of the property having a party which was very loud this went on from 12am until 7am so we did not get any sleep that night . We do understand that this is not normally the case when speaking to.other home owners in the courtyard. And this would not stop us from booking again.

A second chair rather than the bench would have been great
