Betty's Apartment- Metres From Train Station

Great location!

Very bright lights in the kitchen / lounge area - only space for 2 people on the sofa. Extremely small lounge area. All doors are weighted so automatically slam shut. Only 1 toilet which is up 3 narrow flights of stairs to reach it. After booking you are made to sign a contract heavily stacked in the favour of the host with financial penalties for checking out 30 minutes late. The option is either a £200 deposit or £40 insurance fee. Security cameras at the property.

Location was great, really handy for the train and bus station, apartment was well equipped and clean. Rooms were a good size and the bathroom was modern and clean.

Wrong code for door was given so we couldn't get in. No one manning the office phone at weekends so we had to try contacting someone through email and messages. Gained access eventually after a very tense 30 minute wait. Asked to remove our shoes on entry which wasn't a problem only that the floors are all laid with hard vinyl and the stair treads were hard underfoot. The apartment looks like it was previously used as an office, commercial grade flooring, office blinds, all doors are self closing fire doors, emergency lighting and glass panels on the doors which have been blocked out with frosted vinyl. Downstairs bedroom had no frosted vinyl on the glass so you could see right into it from the hall. TV in the kitchen/dining area does nothing. It's not a smart TV and not connected to an aerial of any sort. So unless you travel with your own fire stick and cables, there's nothing you can do with it. TV in the bedroom fared a little better although you can't switch it off without disconnecting it from the wall. Downstairs bedroom has a hanging rail in it with no hangers, so unless you travel with coat hangers, you're screwed there too. The single beds also had double duvets stuffed into the single duvet covers making for an uncomfortable sleep. Contrary to the photograph, there was no toiletries provided. Well that is apart from the previous guest's shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush and used sponges that were left in the shower. Sharing is caring right?! Oh and the spy camera at the bottom of the stairs was the icing on the cake. Yes that's right, a SPY CAMERA! Ok so it was a camera doorbell but it was placed INSIDE the door presumably with the sole purpose of checking who was entering the property and when. Not ok.

The location is very useful.

The listing is very misleading. We searched for something with free parking, this place came up. It DOES NOT have ANY parking! Also no hairdryer when the listing says it should, the listing says wood flooring, it is cheap lino throughout! There are TVs in the property, but they all have no signal, you have to watch TV through an app which is really awkward. You are greeted with two flights of steep stairs and a potentially hazardous electrical installation when you open the front door.... Oh, and there's a camera INSIDE the building, so it can record your conversation all the time even though it is facing toward the front door. But moreover, the general standard is like basic student accommodation. None of the furniture fits properly, you have to squeeze yourself into weird places to use the dining table or to use the breakfast bar because the designer(!) didn't bother getting furniture that fitted. It looks like somebody just raided a secondhand/surplus shop instead! And there was no kitchen roll, no dishwasher tablets, only one toilet roll for the whole week, hardly enough cutlery for two let alone for the six people this place is supposed to accommodate. All in all it is a big disappointment.

I called the day before to check the arrangements for access and was told that the information would be sent 09:00 on the day. i had to message via Booking.com because I had heard nothing. When they responded it was like a ransom request. They will not provide the door code until I have completed an ID check and paid a considerable deposit. I had to pay an extra £35 non returnable damage waver fee as the best option.

ID and deposits requirements should be made known to the customers when the apartment is being booked.

In the listing, it appeared that there was parking however it was on street parking. This could have been made more clear.
