"An OK place for a short stay in cooler months for people who have no mobility problems"

5.0

Had a welcoming feel to it and looked nice. Hosts responded quickly ( e.g. to queries about what to do with the rubbish).

We had difficulty finding the place. Fortunately there are nice neighbours and they helped us. Code numbers had changed. I don't get emails on my phone and with no wifi it was a challenge to get the email and would have been helpful to get info 24 hours earlier. I travelled with elderly parents. Access into the property and inside was problematic. The bathroom floor was a death trap when wet. Shower in the bath is a problem for people with mobility issues. The bathroom also needs a blind on the window near the toilet. I'm sure the neighbours enjoyed the show. There was food and beverages in the kitchen. We had no idea if we could have any of it. The rooms were stifling hot and we could not open the windows. Emptying the rubbish was a challenge as Bristol Council want the rubbish separating but the bins weren't outside. We hope we did the right thing. Although the place was clean, we did feel it could do with a deep clean , fresh paint and some new furniture. Tiles on outside stairs need fixing. Quite dangerous.

"Great location for getting on to Spike Island and funky North Street"

8.0

Location was great After a conversation with the hosts we realised we were near a very funky part of Bristol and we utilised that area twice. The hosts were excellent with communication, even though they were out of the country they took the time to sort out some little niggles that were out of their control.

We didn't have enough confidence to use the back door as the keys stuck - we were told there was a "knack" but the worry of not being able to close / lock the door was too great for us to use it again after the initial opening. It was incredibly hot that weekend and the windows in the home didn't open beyond a couple of inches which was frustrating when you're trying to get some fresh air.

"Bristol a brilliant place for a weekend and the cottage fulfilled all we required"

8.0

It has a lovely sunny garden. Kitchen dinner was a nice space, equipped with every thing we needed. The owner sorted parking for two cars at the last minute which was very helpful. Short walk to North Road for pubs and shops. The spotted cow we would recommend as well as the excellent cheese shop and cor restaurant.

Needed airing. Lounge area quite small for three adults. It’s a good mile out of town which was ok for us.

"It was fantastic. A real home from home and gave us a fantastic base in Bristol. Hosts were wonderful and kind."

9.0

Facilities excellent, comfy beds, great outdoor area, parking provided. Had everything we needed. Great neighbourhood, lots of lovely restaurants, bars and shops.

Needs bigger mugs (but that’s a very minor point)! Steps up to property could be a bit challenging for physically frail or older people.

Self catering and provision of equipment good. Overall excellent.

More information in advance about size of and how to access parking would have been very helpful.

"parking and inside camera disappointing, great location for ashton gate"

4.0

great space and has all you need- location great for ashton gate- 10 min walk

Parking was poor, carpark space in rear garden was small and just about fitted our car. Our 2nd car was parked on the road and was badly damaged. The neighbours said it’s a nightmare during ashton gate football matches, with people parking anywhere- even though it’s a residents permit parking area. Property was dirty in areas, mouldy shower curtain, dirty crockery (had to wash what we used beforehand) old products in the fridge and freezer, back yard area outside back door had bits of moss everywhere which got walked into the house. second bedroom bedding was old and poor quality- 1st bedroom, very nice and much better bedding. Fridge was leaking water and has damaged the floor. leaking radiator in the lounge, which pooled under the chair. The hallway had a camera over looking the inside of the house- we were told this was attached to the alarm, but chose to cover it up whilst we there as felt we were being watched! lots of old mail in the porch. Lacking a welcome pack- like milk and bread etc, no house instructions (told they were on the dining table, but were not) most other places do this. Overall a pleasant house with all that you need, great location for ashton gate, but needs some tlc and attention to detail.
