"Disappointing"

3.0

Location and quaintness of the property was great. Good amount of space for 4-people.

It was very dirty - all the skirting, floors, frames/mirrors, oven, kitchen drawers etc., we’re unfortunately all filthy! Overall amenities were limited. Basic items in the kitchen weren’t provided like kitchen roll or salt & pepper.

"Great location, house not clean, mouldy and things not working"

5.0

location is nice, great pub 30 seconds away with nice food

the whole place needed cleaning, plate on top of microwave had thick dusty layer, my wife swept up as soon as we arrived, walls were marked, cold on walls in bathroom and bedroom, mould round batch and sink, carpet marked and needed cleaning, cooker hob 200 years old and rusty also when used made the whole unit red hot to touch, shower was useless - you were better off using a tap ! water from hot water tank dangerously too hot / you could actually hear the water boiling in the tank ! sink was leaking, we came down to kitchen and stood in pool of water we need too clear up... you have to take all your rubbish, there is no dustbin and are given directions to the local tip which is in the opposite direction to our way home, 7am on the morning we were due to leave woken by text advising we need to be out boy 10 and if not and we hold the cleaner up we would be charged, if we did not leave clean enough ( joke as we had to clean when we arrived ! ) we would be charged ... what a nice way to end the weekend with a message like this ! Its called finest retreats ... not too sure on this

"Cosy cottage in good location"

8.0

Comfy and cosy, great info for the area provided, nice log fire and good location.

The shower was weak, and the kitchen could do with a few basic additions - maybe a new tin opener and salt and pepper.

"A cosy cottage at the heart of Eden’s best kept large village"

9.0

Location in the village, a short walk from Quirky Workshops - a course there was the main purpose of our stay. The village pub is close by, with excellent food. The post office opposite was available for daily papers ans food essentials. The cottage was clean, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. T V and a log burner made it a cosy hideaway for an autumn break. Prompt attention to radiators reported faulty.

There was no access to the garden so I wouldn’t want to stay there in summer. There was only enough fuel for the first night. Had we known we could have brought logs with us. It’s difficult to please everyone in terms of equipping a kitchen, but we would have appreciated a tea strainer and egg cups, a cover for food in the microwave

"AVOID! Ruined our entire holiday."

1.0

Located in a cute little village next to the pub

SO MANY FLIES!! Beds are soft, lumpy and generally uncomfortable. Toilet didn't flush properly & leaks out the front & sides of the tank so there was toilet water in the bathroom that we had to keep cleaning up. Not enough toilet paper provided (despite the listing indicating it's included). Guests are pretty much expected to clean the cottage for the next set of guests - 'final clean' included in the price does not involve what one would normally assume from a paid for vacation rental, e.g. guests expected wash all dishes and take the dustbin bags out - 50min walk away! Will charge you extra if you leave CLEAN dishes in the dishwasher. Every single thing must be in the same place as you found it (don't dare move a single thing otherwise you have left the room 'untidy' and will be charged). Downstairs is freezing, even in hot weather. Cottage & linen reek of smoke from the log burner (even though we never turned it on) so isn't suitable for young children or people with breathing problems.

"Great stay, will be back !"

9.0

Excellent location, comfortable and clean! Would have loved to stay longer.

I was very cold one night, and could not find a blanket, so it would have been nice to have the option of a blanket. Super to have complimentary wood for one night but would have loved to have bought more, but did not know where to go as the shop had none. Maybe we could have been pointed in the right direction for more wood.
