ARCTIC HOMES - Historical Tromsø NEWLY RENOVATED

We had a fantastic stay! The house is both historic and newly renovated, offering a perfect combination of charm and modern comfort. The place is very spacious, exceptionally well equipped, and has all the facilities you could wish for. On top of that, the location is unbeatable – right in the heart of Tromsø, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and attractions. All in all, a first-class accommodation that we highly recommend!

Fantastic location. The sitting room and kitchen. Are newly refurbished and very smart, and the beds are comfortable. The house was clean and the staff I interacted with were helpful. The bathroom is terrible, however, and not a good enough standard for a rental property. The shower over the bath is tiny, with an unpleasant smelling curtain and no flat surfaces to put shampoo or soap. There is lino stuck crudely to the wall, and this hangs over the edge of the bath. The window opening is mouldy and the whole room smells of damp. Horrible.

The location is good, a few minutes walk from the centre and many restaurants & amenities. The apartment looks to have been partially renovated recently, with new-ish kitchen and lounge, including flooring. The beds were comfortable and clean, and there were sufficient towels for everyone.

However, there are a few things which are very disappointing. The bathroom/utility room is awful. We note there are no photographs of this in the property’s posting. Please our photos in this review. There is only one bathroom but enough beds for 9 people. The bath/shower was very awkward to stand in under a sloped ceiling, the tiles have been covered with a piece of dirty lino flooring roughly cut to cover the bath sides, the shower curtain is black, not clean, and because the shower space is so small it clings to the body. There is a skylight that strangely opens downwards, inside which is a thick layer of black mold. The whole thing looks like a badly treated student accommodation in a very cheap house. The rest of the bathroom looks like an unfinished DIY project, as do several areas of the apartment, with exposed wiring, cracked electric cables badly covered with tape, missing flooring and areas of exposed unpainted wall panels. The apartment does not feel completely secure. There is one small lock on the entrance door which itself would not stand up to any force and could easily be broken open. The downstairs apartment owned by somebody else is behind a thin door in the entrance lobby which looks as if it could easily give access to those occupants to the whole Booking.com apartment. The resident’s conversations can easily be heard from the lobby. The owners of that property are still parking their car obstructing the entrance to this apartment despite all of the historic complaints about this and reassurances from the apartment’s landlord on Booking.com. In conclusion, unless the bathroom is completely replaced and the rest of the apartment finished to a high standard, including fitting a sturdy entrance door and lock, and we cannot recommend this property. Booking.com should really insist on photographs from every room before listing a property on their website.

The house is located minutes away from city center. Its comfy and equipped with all necessities. The view from the house is also magnificent. Alex was kind to help us look for baggage storage as we arrived earlier than the proposed check in time.

The house is located uphill so it was quite a hassle to push our luggage up

Fantastic modern apartment in traditional style house, only about a 7 minute walk into the city centre. We stayed here as a family of 5 and had plenty of space for us all to relax and sleep. It’s spotlesslessly clean, has a kitchen full of the essentials and large dining table, a huge sofa and tv and a balcony off a bedroom. Powerful shower in large bathroom The beds and pillows were so comfy and the towels were thick and fluffy. And the views were amazing - waking up to see the mountains and the sea was just wonderful. The location is great - close to the bridge to cross over for the arctic Cathedral and cable car and a short walk into the centre for restaurants, meeting points for tours and cruises and museums. There are lots of local busses too (just note that it sits up a bit of a hill, but this just adds to the fabulous views) From the moment we booked we had the best communications with the Arctic Homes Team, with very special thanks to Alex who replied promptly to all my emails with such helpful information. Would definitely recommend this property and Arctic Homes Thank you
