The Tavern at Hale

Staff were brilliant! Welcoming, friendly, accommodating, and very hard working. Food in the restaurant was very good with a varied and tasty menu. Good location for Kendal, Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside,, Levens Gall & Sizerg Castle

Nothing to dislike

The staff were really helpful and polite. The room was very clean and had all the expected amenities. The menu is limited but the food is of really good quality and well presented. Beware though, the portions are huge! There is a good wine list too. The whole place is nicely decorated and has a lovely atmosphere.

It would have been nice to have a chair in the bedroom but it didn’t stop us enjoying our stopover.

The Tavern at Hale is a lovely home felt place & we have stayed here many times & felt the home from home feel. Bedrooms are cosy with some larger than others.

We regret to write this part of our review about our last experience of staying here during the bank holiday weekend. On arrival (around 7pm) a staff member showed us to our room which to her surprise had not been cleaned in time for our arrival. (This may not have been her fault). She apologised & asked if we could wait 15 mins whilst she herself cleaned & refreshed our room. (Normal check in was at 3pm). As we had an early start the next morning & were due to meet our family members as part of our bank holiday, we were kept awake for most of the night by lots of banging, loud movements & loud talking by people in the rooms above us, which were apparently staff members staying upstairs. The noise & loud thudding never seemed to calm down until the early hours which led to myself & my partner not being able to sleep & settle throughout the majority of the evening. Before we knew it our alarms were ringing & we were left to feel completely drained ahead of our big day as we were competing in a 10k run that morning. Due to severe lack of sleep my partner was too exhausted to even attempt the race which was one of the reasons for our visit. Into the evening we were joined by family & had an evening meal which wasn’t too bad. However we had a drink order that was incorrect, no wine glasses available & alternatively given small flute glasses that contained lip stick marks. Myself & my partner made a decision to drive back home at around 10:30pm after our family meal & cut short our stay (as we were booked in for 2 nights) to avoid such another negative experience, due to lack of sleep. Due to this we missed family time as we were so exhausted by the disturbances during the night of staff members. This place was a dream when Sam & Brooke were in total control!!! Wish they never left!

The Tavern is a beautiful old inn, full of rustic charm, but with a modern edge. The room was lovely, very comfortable bed, large shower and stunning stand alone bath. The only downside was the noise of the traffic on the A6 outside the window, but a pair of earplugs helped. We would book the Tavern again. The food was delicious, with lots of local foods on offer. The dinner portions are very good!

The cooked breakfasts could have been served from an earlier time-didnt affect us as we were walking with friends in and around Arnside

The property itself was pleasant other than the bathroom not really being secluded/private/the door having gaps. The staff kept us up from when the bar shut at 11.30am until 8am - partying then screaming / fighting
