Taru Villas Mawella - Tangalle

From our arrival to our departure the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We decided to book literally a couple of days before - we didn’t want to stay in Mirissa after speaking with several people - and the villa was just beautiful and exceeded what we were looking for. Somewhere quiet, great location, and relaxing. Taru Villas was everything we look for.

Maybe the evening dinner options? We wanted authentic Sri Lankan and the options were mainly western influenced. However there were plenty of options along the beach so we didn’t miss out.

I loved the premises, that speak classic luxury. Beautiful room and common space, especially the open living room that is a lovely area to relax at evenings, to do online work with a laptop, or chill with a cup of tea when it rains outside. The staff is very professional, and the maintenance/cleaning services impeccable. One of the main managers - Oshan is the most caring guardian!

• The area outside the hotel outside the fence on the beach is nothing like a luxury experience (the beach itself is normal if you stay elsewhere but if you stay at the hotel I would like properly arranged sun-beds, etc.) • I had a minor unpleasant dinner experience with one of the waiters where he almost refused to serve me at 9pm even if it’s written their kitchen is available until 10 pm (but we all have space for development). • I felt the youngest of the guests during my stay; thus if one is traveling solo, and is younger than 40, I would suggest to look for a more lively place :) • And I didn’t like limited lunch/dinner menu with more western adapted meal options and more western adapted prices as well - so explore the surroundings for a true Sri lankian experience!

The location was lovely with immediate access to the beach with colourful fishing boats . Lovely verandah and pool with chaise longues to sit facing the ocean. Nice verandah off our room also overlooking the pool and beach.

I stayed at the villa. Exceptional and lovely. The service and kindness enhanced the experience.

Dining à la cart was average, the grilled fish and the curry has to be ordered in advance so we had no time to do that. Very good breakfast

Staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Great Sri Lankan breakfast. Very clean and spacious rooms. Right on the beach with body boards you can use. Very comfy huge bed. Quiet.
