Lux Oceans 2 Bedroom Apartment in Umhlanga

Having the reception desk with friendly, professional and helpful staff was amazing and made our stay more comfortable. The apartments are central and close to everything we wanted. The beach, restaurants and bars and ofcourse Oceans mall.

Having to pay extra for linen to be changed. A 4 night stay in summer should atleast include one free optional linen change

Location

Management staff were terrible at fixing an issue with the unit. Also, lots of noise from surrounding area, especially cars racing and revving their engines for no apparent reason.

It’s beautiful and I also liked its location and convenience.

The Aircon were not heating properly and the leakage in the en suite bathroom.

The location is convenient. The Oceans Apartments staff were so lovely despite all the issues with the host (host is based in Johannesburg)

The hosts are fraudulent. Worst experience across the 38 countries I’ve been to. They MORE THAN DOUBLED the price that was already fully paid through Booking.com while I was in flight mode en-route to Durban so had no way of knowing! I booked over six months before my trip to avoid last-minute premiums and paid in-full through Booking.com. The hosts (either go by Mafadi Air/Veza Air) whatsapp messaged me 3 weeks before my trip telling me to cancel the booking because the host was pulling the property (even though I could see there were dates available for the rest of the year). The Comrades Marathon was on that weekend and I’m sure they realised they could charge premiums. I even offered them more money but they told me it wasn’t about money. Booking.com customer service informed me that this is common practice and if I cancel, I will probably see the same dates on Booking.com for double the fee. They contacted the hosts and confirmed my stay was on their system and fully paid. Then, 19 days before my trip they said they cannot accomodate my family and & booking.com was informed. Again, customer service confirmed my stay with the hosts and told me they weren’t informed of any issues. After we checked in, the host called Oceans reception & said that I haven’t fully paid and I need to pay AN EXTRA 14026ZAR or we will be kicked out. Mafadi/Veza Air could not provide a secure credit card link. I had to arrange international bank transfer. It’s been 16days and they still haven’t provided a receipt despite my Australian bank confirming the funds have cleared. Who knows where my money is. NB:The bathroom has mould. Crockery is chipped or cracked. Had to ask 5 times to get more than 2 teaspoons. They don’t provide toilet paper after you use the initial rolls because they are a “self-service apartment” yet there is housekeeping almost every day, so you still have to lock all your valuables because they have their own key.
