Stale smell of smoke and tobacco as soon as one walks through the door. Non-Smokers - Avoid. I’m not normally in the habit of writing or leaving reviews but in the circumstances of our (very short) visit to this property (that we chose then not to stay in) and the manner in which my issues have been dealt with (or not dealt with) by the host in the week that has since passed, I’ve felt compelled to do so given the experience that I have had in dealing with GB Relocations. I was due to stay here with my family last Friday night 01 May 2026 for two nights. Upon arrival and opening the door, we were immediately greeted with an overwhelming and unmistakable stale odour of smoke and cigarettes. That smell not being just the superficial, passing or lingering smell of an occasion where someone has had a sneaky fag and fled the scene but the stale stubborn one that lies and remains in the fabric of the building. It was a prevalent smell of stale tobacco smoke, or thirdhand smoke in the air. We arrived at the building door at 20:50 and within 3-5 minutes of being there, I rang the host (Jomin) to advise of the problem. Jomin rang me back shortly afterward apologising that he had missed the call as he was “in meetings”. I explained the situation to him saying that the apartment was expressly advertised on the website as being a non-smoking apartment and that given what I was smelling, it quite clearly was not. Jomin proceeded to question me as to whether it could have been the scented candles or things such as the cleaning products that had been used in the apartment. But quite clearly to me, this was not the case. I explained that it seemed to me that despite valiant attempts having obviously been made by cleaners and/or others to mask over the smell with various scented products or air fresheners to mask over the stench or odour, this was not a smell that was maskable or hideable.

our young children had asthma. Regardless of that, it was not a premises I would have been staying in anyway given the staleness that we were met with whether I had children with me or not. In the perhaps 10-12 minutes that we walked around the apartment before leaving, it was sufficient time for my own clothes to still be smelling of the staleness of the smell upon leaving. I said to Jomin that I would call him later next week to sort it out and we ended up having to luckily book last minute in the Novotel in Wolverhampton. I returned the keys downstairs to the shop assistant from where we had got them. Upon returning from our stay away, I proceeded to contact Jomin on Wednesday of this week to try and sort out what happened. I needn’t have bothered as although Jomin was polite in his manner, the conversation very quickly commenced on the defensive with Jomin advising that had I supposedly advised him of any specific “medical conditions” requests, they could have done something about it – I booked a property that was advertised as a non-smoking property Jomin; I don’t think that any reasonable person would expect that it would be considered a special request to further request that the apartment “be a non-smoking apartment” or not clearly contain engrained and lingering odours of tobacco as soon as one walks through the door. In any event, bar stripping the carpets, clearing the ducts and perhaps airing the place out for a few months and a new paint job, it is not the type of smell or stench that I would believe one is capable of doing anything about in the immediate short time anyway. I had more to say as regards the aftercare/lack of customer care when following up to get it sorted out but I've ran out of space but suffice to say in general, it seemed to me that customer care has lip service paid to it, but no real meat on the bones of it when it came to it, which is most unfortunate.

"Excellent host, good value for money"

Host was super friendly and the apartment was well turned out. The host replied quickly to queries and check-in/out was easy. The apartment was conveniently near a shop and it wasn't too far to walk to the town centre (~20 min).

The bathroom could do with a bit of a deep clean, otherwise the general cleanliness of the apartment was good.

The apartment was even nicer than I'd imagined from the pictures. There was everything we needed for our stay, and the owner was there to show us around and explain the appliances when we got there. He was really friendly and helpful, and contactable throughout. The location was really convenient too, with a shop below, and a wide range of restaurants and takeaways nearby - everything close walking distance. Plenty of secure parking space too. We would definitely love to stay here Good communication from the owner throughout our stay - thank you!

There was nothing we didn't like about the apartment, but families with small children should be mindful that there is a big busy road close by.
