"A spectacular place to stay, giving access to a wide range of local walks."

10.0

The Dale is a beautiful place to stay in a lovely village. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, with a really comfortable bed and sofa, and the best shower ever! Full kitchen facilities meant that I could self-cater quite easily (though I didn't do that very often as the pub does delicious meals - be warned, portions are massive!). Vicky, Richard, and Ella are brilliant hosts, really friendly and helpful - they even provided a pack of crumpets for breakfast and a vase of fresh roses! The Dale is perfectly situated for spectacular walks from the doorstep, including Buckden Pike, local woodlands and waterfalls, and the ridge that rises behind the annexe. I had a wonderful, if wet, few days in Buckden - I'll definitely be back.

The village shop wasn't open at all during my stay. However, I did visit out of season.

"A beautiful relaxing stay."

10.0

An excellent place to stay, to take a break from a hectic life! There are the options of lots of lovely walks or just taking in the peace and quiet, with a good book and beautiful scenery (patio doors wide open!). The hosts are brilliant. Phone signal is not 100% (I had no signal outside of the property in the village), but the hosts lent me a landline in case of emergencies. The welcome of the friendly hosts with the nice extra touches of the fresh flowers, crumpets, tea, coffee and milk all helped this make a much needed relaxing break. I hope to find the time to come back again.
