Tam Cốc Yến Nhi Homestay

The family who runs the place is SO lovely. If you come, as a foreigner, with an open heart, you will see that, behind the somewhat rough first impression, they are generous and warm people. The breakfast is local: com chien (fried rice) and sometimes, eggs with bread. With tea and fruits. The room is really spacious, the bed is SO comfortable (good mattress). The bathroom is good, with hot water. The small village and surroundings are really quiet. You can walk to Tam Coc, it's about 20min. The family also rents bikes and motorbikes. Good experience, I recommend!

The only small thing that could be improved would be more furniture in the bedroom (a bigger table or a shelf to put things on).

Loud karaoke till 1am. It was a tuesday. Breakfast was just fried rice and made me sick.

Unfriendly staff, it seems customer service is at the bottom of their list of priorities. The welcome was poor, giving us no information on arrival e.g. breakfast times (we had to guess). Bike rental. We rented two bikes at 60k each (not the cheapest in town) as it was convenient at the homestay to help us get into town quickly. The bikes are barely rideable (not very safe) and not maintained but they work and can get you from A to B. We sadly punctured a tyre whilst out and were provided with no repairs or information on what to do if this happened, we messaged the homestay to ask for help but did not hear back from they for over 30minutes so started to make our way back with the puncture. When we got back to the homestay we were greeted with frustrated Vietnamese and accused of ‘breaking the bike’ - all it needed was a new inner tube and some air which we could have fixed it with, but they did not even keep spare inner tubes. Therefore they demanded money for a new bike/ tyre or innertube - which we refused to pay as it was not broken. It seems they wait for something to ‘break’ and prey on tourists to pay to fix them. We paid for our nights booked and bikes rented and proceeded to leave, only for the staff to attempt to physically barricade us into the property, once we broke free and into the street, we got followed down the street by the main man on his motorbike filming us and conveniently now able to speak english saying ‘pay for bicycle’. In short, do not rent bikes from here and i also wouldn’t rent a scooter after this ordeal all over a puncture! The service and treatment towards paying guests is awful and I would not recommend this place to anybody, there are much nicer places closer to town and better places to rent better bikes.

The worst experience in Vietnam so far. I was surpised because generally the people in the homestays are very friendly. The first day, they give us a room where the sheets were clearly not cleaned. They had a strong smell of sweat and there was lipstick on a pillow. The last day they wanted us to check out at 11:00 even if it was clearly mentioned that the check out was until 12:00. And when we were trying to book a taxi to reach the bus station with a big suitcase, they didn’t help us at all and simply told us to walk and continued having dinner.
