Jungle Beach an Uga Experience - Trincomalee

Wonderful staff, lovely food, amazing beach and lovely sizeable rooms. All very friendly. Get the frozen margs.

We loved it! Exactly what we thought we were getting and more, once the problem of our broken air con was fixed. A bottle of Champagne for our trouble and moved to a new room. Food and staff were amazing too

There ought to be mention of the black sand, or a photograph, as our initial view of the beach from the North end was not good.

It was set up beautifully within the nature and jungle. Felt more closer to nature.

The only thing was the price was a bit on a higher side.

The beach was very beautiful and peaceful, it felt like being on a private beach. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The main building around the pool was also well designed, but the pool is smaller than in the pictures.

No value for money considering this is a 5 star hotel. Extremely pungent damp smell in the rooms. We were shown 3 different rooms and all smelled equally bad. Very high menu and drinks prices compared to other restaurants in Sri Lanka (prices are European level), charged in dollars and you have to pay government taxes and service charge on top of the advertised prices. The quality of food doesn’t reflect the prices charged.

It was very peaceful and a lovely location amongst the trees. We had a lagoon cabin which was very nice. Could see a baby crocodile most mornings bathing in the sun. Staff lovely.

Taxi to Trinconomalee China bay airport was a little pricey for Sri Lanka at 80$ for a 1 hour journey We used lots of cars, organised by hotels, previously which were much more reasonably priced.

Nice combination of jungle and beach

The accommodation is not in the best shape and for what it offers it is extremely expensive. The food is also quite expensive and not very good. We had many insects in our bathroom and could not walk in there without shoes. I guess that is just the jungle but if you don’t like insects I would not recommend.

One of a kind! Food was a major highlight: best breakfast with many options, dinner by the beach was wonderful too. Beach is calm and completely empty apart from hotel (beach is not as nice as neighboring Nilaveli but is still great). Lush green and open-air spaces make it super nice. Most friendly and attentive service. Room was excellently designed, spacious and very comfortable. It’s a relatively large place but never feels crowded.

Didn’t even use the beautiful pool but might look bigger than it is. It caters well for families with kids and perhaps less so for adults. not really a problem and did not impact the stay, just a description of what it looks like.

Perfect stay. Could not fault a thing. We were celebrating our engagement and the staff went above and beyond decorating the bed and gifting us a cake also. 100% worth the money.

The staff was very nice and very warm. We really appreciated the quality of the service. The room was great, the restaurant was really good and the pool and the private beach are clearly amazing assets. We stayed there for 3 days and we felt like we were in a paradise bubble. I also had a very nice massage. I highly recommend and will go back for sure!!

We booked last minute whilst on our honeymoon due to an issue with another booking. We had looked at Uga previously but been put off by the cost. We got a good last minute deal. Staff very friendly on arrival, restaurant area very nice and food was good- a lot of breakfast options!

We were disappointed by the room, felt it looked a little tired- scuffs on the wall, plaster that needed fixing. If we had paid full price I would have been upset. The beach is nice but does not look like the promo videos and we struggled to find space on the sun beds. We had an issue with a tuk tuk driver the hotel arranged for us for pigeon island - they tried to take us to an unofficial ticket office on the wrong end of the beach. Less confident travellers might not have realised that you need to get tickets from the official government ticket office. We were able to walk away but it delayed our plans for the day.
