Everything even beach was excellent

Staff tried their best to make the stay better and to help.

Chalets were not on the beach with a sea view. The standard of the rooms were not up to expectation or standard.. Swimming pool next to restaurant and little sunshine.

It IS a JUNGLE resort! It is intelligently well built around the trees and mangroves, even the swimming pool matches and gives jungle vibe. A jungle vibe cannot be complete without animals around: squirrels at the pool, small turtles, crabs, but the best: from the lagoon view suite: view on the crocodiles and so many different kinds of birds. Pristine beach but it wasn’t as sandy white as in the pictures, that really depends on the season. Great staff! From the moment you reach the hotel, at the bar, at the restaurants, at the spa, the staff is friendly and ready to help. Excellent food! Breakfast is not buffet but à la carte, it fits an eco friendly approach. Quite some variety. Same for dinner. A must for seafood lovers. Special thanks to Mitila and the executive Chef Chandika, for preparing some local vegetarian not-on-the-card dishes for us. Very much appreciated.

Really nothing to not like! Just do not forget your flash light at night, there will be insects and animals around. There was a snake at the beach, so take your beach shoes! Can’t blame the hotel for it, it’s nature!

I'm satisfied with breakfast

What I'm not satisfied with is the service, my phone charger was left in that room and they didn't return it to me

Key bits first....large rooms, comfy beds, good showers, good pool and beach area. Lots of breakfast choices. The outstanding element of this hotel is it's relationship with nature. Every day was like taking a mini jungle safari. In 3 days we saw more creatures than the whole of our trip. The giant squirrels at the pool bar were my favourite. Some of the staff were exceptional. Special mention to the charismatic head chef who made us a meal off menu as we don't eat fish and 90% of the evening menu is seafood. Worth a stay for the creatures alone.

This isn't a 5* although it's priced that way and has the potential to be one with its location and set up in the jungle. Rooms are nice but do feel a bit dated in places (lots of chipped paintwork etc), our door lock only worked with an unknown secret method making access a daily frustration. Drinks and food were expensive and generally the food wasn't worth the cost compared to the cheap excellent eats available around the rest of the country....also wierd portion sizes some large, some pretentiously small. Huge focus on sea food. The main restaurant service was odd...everyone had a specific role and wouldn't deviate so if you wanted something you had to wait for the person you asked to relay it to the person who did the function...meant slow service. They closed the bars for World Temperance day (national instruction with penalities for non compliance) which isnt a problem at all, but didnt tell anyone why just...no bar today. People would have understood if they had put a sign up. Sad about the amount of trash on the beach, although that's not the hotels fault, they clear it daily and they encourage guests to help with collecting it during beach walks. Note that their transfer costs were 3x (!!) the cost of those via this website.

The hotel was beautiful with well appointed chalets, which were spacious and thoughtfully decorated. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach which has a cafe for hotel guests. Trincomalee town is a short distance away. Although the cuisine is predominantly aimed at Western tourists Prabodha and Nipun made sure our requests for local cuisine were catered for.

We stayed in a beach chalet and had our private path of 20 metres through the bush onto the beach. The setting was stunning. Likewise the room was spacious and very well appointed. There was a shower in the bathroom and a second outdoor one, and we enjoyed our private verandah. The beach chalets are somewhat more expensive than the lagoon and jungle chalets but for us our room was definitely worth the difference. The main building is cleverly woven into nature and fits snugly round the pool. The beach stretches a long way to the north and is effectively exclusive to the hotel.

A lot of the sand on the beach is black which is apparently due to Ilmenite. It does detract a little from the aesthetics. If you want to eat out, you must expect a 20 minute drive to Nilaveli. Best to eat in. The restaurant, including breakfast, is excellent.

Beautiful location and pool amongst the trees and a private beach. Gym is a nice touch and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing after a lot of travelling. Great to wind down and soak up the sun.
