Holly Cottage, Hidden gem in the Yorkshire wolds

The cottage is beautifully appointed, immaculately clean and very comfortable. Lots of thought has been given to add that extra touch of luxury. The beds were super comfy and we loved the garden, the village and the accessibility to lovely walks.

There was no washing machine, it was very disappointing.

Location was fantastic for peace and quiet but really accessible for shops, takeaways, pubs. Lots to do within a short drive. Plenty of soft towels. Very clean cottage. Welcome pack contained the usual items, bread, eggs, butter, milk. Carpets, decor etc all looked nice. The cottage was exceptionally clean. Windows functioned well. Phone chargers plugged in to lots of sockets in case you forget one. USB sockets in place. Heating was easy to operate. The TV has an accessible HDMI socket so you can plug in a Roku or other external device. The upstairs shower is lovely and easy to operate.

The owners live next door and there are 2 adjoining doors in the property which feels a little strange. There were lots of unnecessary rules spelled out, things that weren't mentioned until the check in was looming and weren't in the description on booking.com. Not things that caused us any difficulty but they did make us feel less welcome. FYI, pets are not allowed upstairs or on furniture (this is not advertised); no music can be played in the garden and they "discourage" children under 16 from using the hot tub. They didn't say that the children COULDN'T use it, but made it clear how they felt and knowing that the owners felt this way about it made me feel really, very awkward. Check out is 10am and non-negotiable. The hot tub has seen better days - Yes it functions and we enjoyed it however it needs repair. The clip on the filter cap is broken and has been crudely fixed with a screw which has failed so it pops off a lot and bobs about in the water. Only one light works and not all the jets function. Sadly the garden shrubbery is very overgrown (not like in the pics) and the tree and large bush overhang the hot tub so bits of debris fall on you. The steps to get in are folding metal steps which are very rusty and feel like they will give way at some point soon. They are not suitable. My eldest daughter was too afraid to go in at all. There is nowhere inside the cottage to dry towels, robes, bathing suits. There is one heated towel rail which comes on only when the heating is on but the system seems to need bleeding as only the bottom few rails get hot. This might also explain the excessive boiler noise. The boiler is located in the twin bedroom, in the wardrobe, and it is EXCESSIVELY noisy when the heating is on or when any water is used. There are no curtains in the twin bedroom or the ground floor bedroom, only the slatted blinds so it's very bright on a morning. The description says there is a smart TV - there isn't.

Clean, modern, homely, great facilities

Clean, tidy and had everything you needed for a relaxed stay. Hot tub was perfect and the garden is a little sun trap!

Beautifully finished, great location, really well appointed. Comfortable beds, great jacuzzi, very relaxing living space.

One or two things missing in kitchen. Only 5 bowls, no microwaveable jug or bread knife, 6 of each glass would be great. Noisy in one of the bedrooms when the water was being used.

I loved everything about this place. The cottage was perfect for us and the dogs and the garden and hot Tub was perfect. We loved the projection room for films and PlayStation fun. We loved the welcome pack and free beer or a bottle of wine. Also the tablet help for.working things was a great edition

Just make sure u get some stuff from a shop as there isn't one within walking distance.
