Seraph House, York

The location for York City Centre was very good.

The 360 degree shower curtain and the gap between the bath and the wall.

About 20 minutes walk to the town centre. Had everything you need and we managed to park right outside the front door and didn't use our car all weekend.

Decor and simpleness and being close to York city centre . Lovely , fresh ,clean bedding and towels .

Whoever had stayed in property before left a lot of dirty marks on dining room carpet . New crockery and glassware required ( so there is enough for 6 guests ) . A small microwave would be beneficial . Table mats . Seating pads for dining room chairs . Outside black bin had not been emptied . Outside courtyard - would be great if plants were tidied up and a patio table and chairs and a few solar lights were put into the courtyard . The weather was so hot it would have been great to be able to sit in courtyard with a few drinks and nibbles in the evening .

House style decor lovely shabby chic brilliant. Location just close enough to city. Fair walk. Communication was good.

Lack of kitchen equipment. Was poor. No baking tray. One wine glass. No sharp knife, no cooking utensils. Cups old. Kettle not reliable. Oven dirty. No hairdryer, iron rusty. Sofa stained. No pillow protectors. Garden unkept. Boiler overflow leaking onto wall and rear door. Hot water. Carpet dining badly stained. Two place mats only. No toilet brush.

Great location and easy walking distance to all that York offers. A spacious house with large bathroom and rooms. Great WiFi and good communications from host, thank you. Booking parking was clear and straightforward.

I’ve reduced from a high rating purely because of the equipment and crockery. We self-catered and it wasn’t adequate. For example, there was no/limited glassware and we had to guess the oven settings as the dial symbols weren’t legible anymore. No toiletries/ shower gel etc. So this place is great if you’re using it as a crash-pad, less so if you’re looking to spend time in the house.

It was clean, warm. The beds were comfy. Nice to have parking on the street. Very convenient for York city, railway .

It felt like a work in progress. The kitchen facilities were basic, no microwave, no roasting tin. Only one wine glass, one egg cup, one kitchen knife and one spatula as cooking equipment. There were only two of us , but for more people it definitely needs more equipment. The water boiler in the bathroom could have doors or be more shut away. We did find that at times water from the boiler dripped out of a pipe by the back door, ran down the outside wall and into the yard. We had the back door open and some of the water dripped in.

Heating should have been on when we arrived and the property although comfy when heating was fixed and they did come when I got in touch with them very pleasant could do with an overall paint carpet in dinning room was heavily stained and floor boards need varnishing or floor coverings put on could do with a microwave and it accommodates six there should be 6 glasses. The beds were comfortable an allowed a good nights sleep but sofa bed was not and was stained needs a clean and maybe a new mattress or mattress topper.very heavy and awkward to pull out but the host did come and pull it out and put it away for us . Living room could do with an extra sofa as the sofa bed can only seat 2 and accommodation for 6. Luckily we were out and about most of time but if you wanted a night wouldn’t have seated us all.

Location was ideal

Lack of blinds at windows, Lack of carpeting and warmth, very unwelcoming and bare, not enough seating in lounge, very damp smell in the air and stained pillow cases.
