Everything you need, nothing you don’t. No fuss, cheap rates for a nice quiet room. Shower had great pressure too

If you’re looking for a nice quiet stay in a nice little cottage then there’s nothing to complain about.

This cottage is in a great location to ride the trails in the area. The Otago Rail Trail and access to Clyde are 100m down the road. It is in a lovely rural setting, close to town. Andrew and Karen are lovely hosts, offering advice and assistance where they can. The cottage itself is new, fresh, clean and comfortable. It is well designed and furnished. The breakfast items provided were a bonus - freshly baked bread, butter, jam, honey, Vegemite, bliss balls, muesli, milk, yoghurt and berries picked from their garden, plus the usual teas, coffee, and hot chocolate. These items were in the room on arrival. Over our 3 night stay we could ask for more as needed.

There is a little lack of privacy being located in the front yard of Andrew and Karen’s place. But I think that will remedy as the tress grow. I would not say breakfast is provided but rather breakfast items were provided. It did feel a little awkward asking for more breakfast items during our stay, but then I also understand Andrew and Karen not wanting to disturb their guests by pestering them. So a bit of a fine line there. I would also suggest the hosts empty the bins part way during a longer stay, so the room doesn’t get smelly. This would also be a good opportunity to top up breakfast items if guests required/wanted it.

It was a treat to experience the generous hospitality of Springvale Cottage. Everything was clean and tidy, Karen was very welcoming, and the breakfast was yum - highlights being the homemade bread, strawberry jam and fresh raspberries. Would highly recommend.
