Luxury 2 Bedroom CBD Apartment with Free Parking

Good position.

No access to balcony.

The key was in a lock box secured on a chain-link fence in front of parked cars. Finding it was like being in an episode of The Amazing Race. It was dark and raining when we turned up. The lock box is black and very low down, nearly on the ground. If it weren't for the very accommodating person at the Wyndham Gardens Reception, we would not have found it.

Leaving was perhaps the worst stay experience we have ever had. After checking the instructions and not finding any as to where to leave the key, we figured the usual arrangement of leaving it in the room would apply. I mean that is the Kiwi way, right? Nope, wrong!!! We get down to Reception only to discover that we need the key to get into the lower-level garage to collect the car. Okay, no biggy. Surely, the reception can let us down; we are only going to the car park after all. After attempting to shake us down first for $100 to access our car and then dropping the required payment to $50, we called the Host, who, arguing with us as to whether there were instructions included in the welcome email about where to leave the key, agreed to speak to Reception on our behalf. Reception then argued with the Host, clearly there is some bad blood between them, and begrudingly agreed to let us down. They used their pass, which was attached to their belt, to activate the elevator and pressed M to go to the lower-level car park. We did not end up at the lower-level car park, but rather at the top-level. Plus, we were now stuck in the top-level car park as the car parks are not linked. Honestly, we were searching for the Candid Camera Crew at this point. Luckily, we stumbled upon the cleaner, who, once we explained the situation, very helpfully let us into the lower-level car park, where we collected our car and left. The apartment itself was brilliant; we had all agreed that we would book it again in a few weeks and perhaps every time we came to Christchurch (which is at least once a month). After the terrible customer service from the Host and the attempted shakedown by reception, not only would we never book this apartment again, but we would never stay at the Wyndham Gardens. We will be warning all friends, work colleagues, family, and anyone about staying there.

Modern spacious and clean apartment in a central location, 10 out of 10, will book it if we come back to Christchurch again!

Superb and spacious apartment on the 7th floor with lovely outlook - bright and light and airy. Very comfortable. Peaceful and great cafe on the ground floor.

There was nothing to dislike - I shall seek to stay again in the future.
