Nicely maintained and cleaned rooms

Just the noise at night some neighbours making at night had a disturbed sleep.

The host Freddy is a very helpful and warm person. Since we arrived late and in heavy rainfall, he went out, bought, and cooked Maggi and made coffee for us for dinner. He was also always available for our questions and concerns. The rooms have a good view with a beautiful garden outside. Hot water is available.

There was no fan so drying clothes was difficult, but maybe that’s the norm in Sohra.

It was a very good experience. The room was good and clean. Freedy (host) is very helpful and polite. He allowed us to use his kitchen. At this price range the rooms are definitely value for money. There is also a waterfall which is 4-5 KMs away.

K J Homestay is in an excellent location in Sora. It’s just a few minutes’ walk away from the town centre where there are restaurants, small snack shops, groceries, the main taxi rank and the market. This position helps if you come during rainy days because you can quickly either get into town by foot or rush back from the centre to the homestay if need be. The homestay is in a quiet residential area, so it’s easy to get a good night’s sleep. The double bed is nice and large and although some people may feel the mattress could be softer, being tired from the day’s activities meant I had a sound sleep. There’s a separate attached toilet with hot water for a shower. The main room with the bed has a table, a small sofa and an easy chair, which allowed me to relax when I was indoors. Freddie, the proprietor, was very helpful. When I arrived in Sohra, he came to the centre to pick me up in his car and help me carry the bags into the property. Another time, after kindly volunteering to arrange a taxi to Arwah Cave, the annual taxi driver’s meeting occurred, which meant no taxis would run in the morning. Freddie then kindly drove me to the cave, even though he must have been busy. During my stay, he came to check if everything was fine and if I needed anything. K J Homestay is good value for the price I paid. I was particularly happy about the assistance from Freddie, which helped make my stay a success.

The loud thunder from five passing storms kept me awake on the first night - not the homestay's fault. Freddie came to check in the morning if everything had been alright.
