Haven On Tau

Wir wurden sehr nett von den Gastgebern empfangen und mit tollen Tipps versorgt. Die Unterkunft war geräumig und mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich sehr wohl.

It is a very comfortable private unit with a very comfortable bed and good space to relax in, inside and outside. Great welcome and everything clearly explained. Bathroom was great and the complimentary tea was my favorite Dilmah.

The apartment is clean and tidy and presents well. Tea, coffee and small chocolates as welcoming gifts were warmly received and it was nice to have toiletries available. Wifi worked well and the information about the local area, take out etc was a nice touch. Host was available on site if you needed anything.

I purposely waited before submitting my review as I wanted to give myself time to reflect. There were/are several elements of the stay and accommodation that I feel are nor represented in the host text and have not been addressed by others. I think for fairness and clarity they deserve to be stated here. Firstly, the property is not in Ohakune but 6km away meaning it is not possible to walk into town for a meal. This wouldn't be so much of a problem if there were adequate cooking facilities at the property, but there are not. A BBQ grill located outside is not really suitable especially if you happen to have food allergies and/or celiac and do not want to risk cross contamination. It also doesn't work so well if it is the cold and rainy as you don't want to stand outside cooking. Secondly, the restrictions placed on water usage, access to the property and what you can do inside the property make our stay feel like we were being held hostage to a set of rules we did not choose and could not do anything about. Being restricted to a 3 minute shower after a whole day hiking is not really acceptable, not flushing the toilet, again might be ok for some but didn't really feel like a 'superb' experience. On the whole we felt a little let down by whole experience. I acknowledge that these are personal preferences/experiences but they are a reflection of how we felt about our visit.

Amazing views and so well kitted out. It had everything you could possibly need for a little getaway.

A lovely weekend getaway spot that is well kitted out for being self sufficient when accessing the Tongariro National Park. The rural outlook with birdsong is so nice to enjoy and the host was very communicative and friendly, making sure we had what we needed. Super clean unit too, with thoughtful touches, e.g. hair dryer, lots of teas, bug spray.

The position of the sofa is not ideal for two people wanting to watch the TV head on, but it was comfortable anyway and a small thing. The bed was also not compatible with me, but this is such a personal thing and everything else was fantastic.

Beautiful property in a beautiful location with a friendly host.
