The Jewel in the Crown, countryside escape

Loved the location and the warm welcome. Quirky and comfortable. The fact that Angus provided lifts to and from the wedding we were attending was the icing on the cake. Thank you to all concerned.

Stayed here for a family wedding. felt very comfortable and welcomed. if you like animals this is the place for you, however if you're not keen on animals, don't worry they mind their own business:). Barbara and Angus are wonderful lovely people, they go above and beyond. you won't get this treatment in many places. Their dogs are adorable and very well behaved, Frank the Goose, not so much, just.kidding he's a character. Beautiful scenery and a pleasant place to be They also have a beautiful Cabin according my daughters as they had a look around. We was also welcomed with food in the fridge and cereal. Not fo mention the kind offer to pick us up after he wedding, which they did. Both are respectful of your privacy when needed, but if you like to have a chat, these are your people it was a pleasure meeting kind hearted people, that clearly care concerned you are happy that you enjoy your stay.

This was a great place to stay. The house was full of quirky, interesting items and paintings. The breakfast of bacon, free range eggs, bread, butter - as well as two types of cereals and milk was a first class. Barbara was fascinating to talk too, lots of anecdotes and amazingly fit. There is a large garden. We went in September but would have loved to see the garden in full summer bloom. Barbara recommended The Knot Inn, a gastropub, which is about a mile away where we had a very enjoyable meal.

The Jewel in the crown is beautiful we all loved the decor and it felt very cosy. Perfect for a family break. A lovely farm style kitchen, two lovely bedrooms, a beautiful cosy sitting area and a further sitting area. Very clean stylish bathroom and property very clean throughout. Barbara the host was very welcoming and friendly. Made to feel like nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen was well stocked with bread, milk, cereals, jam, bacon, butter - and the best free range eggs from the chickens on the farm (they were delicious). The cottage also had stocked bathroom, games to play, TV and WiFi (though we didn't really use WiFi as we were having a lovely time without it). The views are beautiful surrounding the cottage. You even get your own little garden. My children loved seeing the animals on the farm too it was a real highlight. All in all just a wonderful place to stay, highly reccomend.

Super friendly hosts. Quaint accommodation. Quiet location.

lovely location. Barbara was very friendly. Provisions for breakfast including eggs from her chickens were a bonus.

Dogs and goose were a bit overpowering - but harmless. Kitchen was a bit awkward to cook and eat in, with 3 of us. Also not very well equipped - although Barbara was willing to supply anything extra we needed. With some rearrangement, it would be possible to make better use of the space.

Excellent hosts friendly and nothing too much trouble.
