"Just wow"

10.0

Loved every minute, just what we needed to unwind. Views are amazing & it’s just so quiet, my personal favourite was talking back with the owls of a night time 😂 John was brilliant he kept in touch through out our stay. Everything was thought of inside the cabin from Cutlery, towels, toilet roll and dish soap. I would 100% recommend this beautiful place. What a way to bring in the new year! Thankyou John & family for letting us into your boss home. Best wishes for 2026

Bed was a little hard, we found ourselves waking up aching although Not the worst we’ve stayed in

"Absolute bliss."

10.0

All of it. I needed somewhere to switch off and this place is perfect. No WIFI. No phone signal. No TV. Just a hut in a field with a fire. Absolute. Bliss. Extra points for John being such a lovely host, always keeps you informed right from the off all the way throught your stay. Welcomes you so warmly as soon as you arrive. Be prepared for all his information upon arrival, he tests you. 😉 John supplies you with everything from towels and blankets to wood, kindling and firestarters (for £15 but lets face it, better than supporting tesco or B&M.) Take cash, cause you need change for the electric box, i stayed 2 nights and barely used £2 dont let it put you off. I highly recommend this place if like me you need to turn the world off from time to time. I will 100% be coming back.

I watched Oklahoma on dvd whilst there. I didnt like that. Does that count?

"A fab stay in the dragons hut!"

9.0

After reading such good views, seeing all the photos of the dragons hut and it being in such a lovely location I just had to book. The moment I stepped into the shepherds hut I felt calm. The views are spectacular and I loved waking up to the rolling hills. John really has thought of everything. Out the front of the hut there is a bench and bbq for guests to use. You can walk around the meadow where there are a couple of small ponds and a favourite of mine was sunset bench. A field with a bench at the top of the hill to watch the sunset, it was bliss. The hut is well equipped, including radio, dvd player with plenty of films to choose from, underfloor heating, stove fire (you can take your own logs or buy a bucket with kindling, logs and fire lighters from John for just £15. This did me 3 nights of fires, with some logs left over. I stayed 4 nights). The kitchen is well equipped, including microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. Essentials provided include washing up liquid, sponge, tea towel, cooking oil, salt & pepper and hand soap. Even though I brought and used my own, there was even shower gel and shampoo in the shower. You’re also supplied with a couple of good size towels, a folder full of local information, a little 3 drawer set which is great for extra storage, and plenty of sockets to charge things. Make sure you take £1/£2 coins for the electric meter, which is easy to use. Between Sat afternoon - Wed morning I used around £6, which I thought good. I was in and out of the hut throughout the day. I loved being cosy in the evening, and waking up to the views out the window, especially the foot of the bed view. John has got a lovely set up, including other properties on site, which I’d love to try some other time. He has a great knowledge of the local area and even let me take some of the fruit from his trees, which I was very grateful for. I loved spending time here and it was the perfect location when helping my friend move down the road.

It would be useful to have a bedside lamp, to create an even more cosy glow.

"Wife was happy. Enough said."

It was exactly as stated. Perfect for a few days away in North Wales.

Took a while to see that the water heater plug and the fridge socket was behind the chair near bed (although it was well signposted😂)

What an amazing place, John was super welcoming, the advice about directions before we arrived was easy and spot on. He had some great tips on local places (our breakfast at the corner house cafe in Ellesmere was outstanding!) the dragons hut is beautiful, cosy, clean and had everything we needed, the swimming pool is brilliant and we really enjoyed using it. The information book has everything you could ever think of, we can't wait to visit again in the future and was gutted we couldn't stay an extra night due to work commitments!

Nothing to dislike.
