Alfama with a view

Silvana was excellent - check in was straight forward and easy (we were met at the property at an agreed time), super friendly and responsive to our messages. The apartment itself is compact but has what you need - a double bed with one pillow each and an extra blanket, heating/AC unit if needed, shower with toiletries, equipped kitchen with kettle, toaster, microwave oven and plug in electric hob, towels, a clothesline for drying clothes outside. 30 minute walk to most attractions in the city centre along the sea front, with easy access to beautiful Alfama. You truly can see the river from the apartment.

This was not an issue for us, but the apartment is on the 4th floor and the stairs are very narrow (80cm wide) and steep, so be wary if you have mobility needs or have big/heavy luggage (Silvana did warn us in advance). If you are a very light sleeper, the apartment can be a bit noisy at night with sounds from other apartments, the street (bin men come daily) and building work outside.

In an good location to Alfama and the Santa Appoliana metro. There is a water view as well.

The 5 flights stairs and narrow hallway were a challenge with suitcases. The staircase is very steep, wooden and narrow. We had a big suitcase and could barely haul it up. The living room has very low lighting so we couldn’t read a book at night. The portable cooktop didn’t work. It kept beeping and we couldn’t clear it. The coffee maker has you por water through a tube filled with ground coffee and it was a 10 minute process for a cup of coffee.

The location is perfect with beautiful views. The apartment was spotless and very well equipped.

The location was perfect in the Alfama District and a short walk to many restaurants and attractions as well as the Santa Apolonia Metro Station. The view was toward the sea and was usually visible unless there were several cruise ships in port. The apartment was very comfortable and felt like my 'home away from home'. It had a nice kitchen, a separate bedroom, a small but adequate bathroom and a lovely living room complete with Netflix! The host was very kind and always quick to respond to questions. The only caveat is the staircase to get to the apartment. There is no lift and there are 52 stairs (I counted them) and they are small and narrow. You should not stay here if you are physically challenged or have a lot of luggage. However, if you travel light and can make the trek up the stairs, I highly recommend Alfama with a View!

I like everything and would definitely stay here again. However, as I mentioned above, the stairs are not for the weak, physically challenged or anyone carrying a lot of luggage.

The views and location are great. Santa Apolonia station is a short walk away for trains, buses, metro and groceries. The host was very friendly and responsive. The place was clean and as advertised.

The space is small and the ceilings are low, so if you are tall, it may not be suitable. No shelves nor table beside the bed.

It was a good location and the kitchenette was handy and well stocked. The bed was comfortable.

As mentioned the stairs are steep and wouldn't work for anyone with mobility issues. It was quite warm in the room even with fans on. We also lost power one morning but was back on later in the day.

Location is excellent. Place was spotless.

It is tiny, starting with stairs to get there (upper floor). Not suited for tall or large persons. Noise in weekdays from nearby construction site
