The Beach House -South Shields

We used this as a base for running the GNR, excellent location, just a 25-30 minute stroll from the finish, where you catch the buses to the start, or about 10-15 minutes to the train station. The apartment was lovely and clean, and Mark kept us well updated. The coast is just a 2 minute walk through the park opposite, and the shops, bars and restaurants are literally around the corner. We all gad a fantastic weekend, thank you.

Only one very minor detail, we only just had enough toilet roll, maybe an extra one in each bathroom would be good.

The keys were easily accessible from a key safe The contact was very responsive and aimed to address any queries we had. The location was ideal for getting to Sunderland to watch the Women’s Rugby Cup opening match

The instructions said we would be met at the property and shown around. This did not happen. The property is is need of some updating. The utensils in the kitchen were very limited and not all were clean. I presume part of that was down to the fact that there isn’t a dishwasher.

Perfect location. Opposite a park, close to beach and restaurants are just around the corner.

Residents parking permit would be handy. You are only allowed two hours per day with pay and display outside.Free parking is up the hill.

From arriving and being greeted by Mark, who we found was, courteous, very informative and helpful and stressed he was contactable if any problem arose (which it didn't). The presentation of the apartment was very good

Nothing we didn't like

2 adults 3 children, very comfortable and plenty of room for us all. Right across the street from the park and playground. Shops right around the corner and the fun fair and beach on the doorstep. Very little need for car. Beautiful views.

The location is good for all amenities

The upstairs shower wasn't working, and the other shower had no shower curtain to stopwatch going all over the floor. Parking is payable outside the property but free further up the road, but spaces are very limited . Unfortunately, the maintenance guy was not available to look at this, but we we were offered compensation for a meal to the value of £35. To add insult to injury, we were only refunded £20! for our money spent on a meal for four.
