Daydream house, Sunrise, sunset views across lake

The house fronts the lake which is lovely to watch the sunrise over the lake. Clearly there is no 'sunset' over the lake! It is a peaceful and quiet location. When we were first driving to Daydream House, we wondered what the neighborhood was like as it appears to be the old part of town (didn't look great) and had some industry on approach (a street behind the house). There were no safety issues or disruptions during our 4 night stay. The yard was basic but well kept, grass mowed etc.

When we walked into the house, it looked like the grandparents had moved out for 4 nights to let us stay for 4 nights! There was no 'pile' on the towels - they should have been thrown out long ago. Nothing looked fresh or clean. Pull back the bed cover and the sheets were all wrinkled, which begged the question whether the sheets were actually changed and fresh; pillows atrocious; there was a rug/blanket on a lounge chair that appeared not to have been washed in the last 10 years; stains on carpets; previous guest 'sock' under the dresser so clearly the carpet was not vacuumed; at least 6 light switches didn't work including the outdoor patio ones; outdoor patio furniture not clean; there was a cat(!) so luck for us, no cat allergies (lovely friendly cat that thankfully doesn't rely on this house for it's food); Weber barbecue located inside, but needs to be moved outside to use (no room on the patio); oh my goodness, I had better stop there! Both owner/s and the property agent, whom I will not name, have responsibility here. But the agent has responsibility to manage cleanliness and one would assume advise on presentation standards as well as do's and don'ts. They clearly are not doing their job! In our opinion, this accommodation would be luck to receive a '2 star rating' which flies in the face of every other 'wonderful' review I read prior to deciding to stay there. Our family spent 5 weeks touring both the North and South Islands of New Zealand - that is, we stayed at 17 different accommodations - and this accommodation was the worst we stayed in by far.

Very comfortable holiday house, cosy, and it has everything that you need. Excellent location, I can see the sun rise across the Rotorua Lake in the morning from the lounge room, absolutely waterfront with the lake view. It's not too far from all famous places in Rotorua. The kitchen has everything for your cooking, pots, bowls, plates, forks, cups, glass, etc... It has everything, except there are no CHOPSTICKS & FISH SAUCE :-) :-). Comfortable bedrooms, nice clean bathroom & toilets. The house is pretty clean. I should mention that this house has an ORANGE tree in the backyard, and you must try. We strongly recommend this holiday house. We will come back again.

I am not sure why there is no flies screen on all windows.

Old house with only one bathroom & so-called tow toilets. The other toilet at laundry room seems "artificially" putting there.

i like having the orange cat Ginge stopping by. I liked that there was a BBQ grill available to use.

I wish there were more rubbish bags. We wanted to be thorough in getting our rubbish out but there was not enough bags.
