Tulbagh Country Guest House - Cape Dutch Quarters

The best location in Tulbagh - so central! The accommodation is dated but I only stayed one night and it was warm and comfortable for a winter weekend. I would visit again. There are lots of places to eat in the main street - walking distance from the accommodation and everyone is so friendly.

The location was great. Comfotable bed. Clean linen and tiles.

The bathroom was not nice. There is a drain in the bathroom which give off a bad smell. The water was luke warm at 9pm for a shower. It was warmer in the morning, but not nice and hot for winter time. There was a sticker label on the rug next to the bed, maybe from a previous clients' new clothing. Rooibos tea with the normal tea would be a nice option for locals and foreigners.

Friendly staff and very flexible. My bed was a bit soft, but the rest of the groups beds was stunning. Breakfast table was set unbelievable. Stunning.

Breakfast was great, owner and staff very helpful and enthusiastic. Lovely old Cape Dutch accommodation. Everything you need is walkable. Great care in collecting rugs and artworks; it shows.

While the setting and main building is beautiful, the facilities are in dire need of an upgrade and maintenance. We couldn't bring ourselves to use the shower, as it is not clean. Kitchenette in the unit is falling apart and the floor is dirty. The fridge in the kitchenette is ancient and yellowed. The linen is old and mattress is worn out. The facility was most definitely in its prime about 20 years ago, but it has been left unmaintained. We were housed in an out-building, which used to be a double garage. The place is clearly understaffed. Can only wish for good fortune to befall the owner, so that his business can flourish and grow in the future.
