The Imperial River House Resort, Chiang Rai

The location. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant was very good.

The reception staff were not very welcoming on arrival. Room needs a refurbishment.

The property is beautiful, thoughtfully designed and very well maintained. Attention has been paid to small details. You can spend all day and not feel like going anywhere. The river is right there, directly accessible from the property. There's no activity in the river though - I was expecting to see boats go by. They have bicycles for guests which was nice. We enjoyed our biking trips in the areas around the hotel. One evening when we returned, there was a live singer in the lawn by the river. Unfortunately, there was no one to hear him. We thoroughly enjoyed his music by ourselves. The famous Blue Temple was right at the entry lane - a two-minute walk. The temple complex has several touristy shops. We had hired a scooty from the Clock Tower market at a very reasonable price (300 THB per day) Breakfast is not lavish but good enough. Perhaps to quantify pilferage - they have a list of prices for possibly every item in the room. Like bathmat, towel, cup, hanger etc. Maybe just in case someone is caught stealing, they can charge as per the list.

The restaurant closes by 10PM, last order by 9.30 - a bit early if you are on a holiday. It was too quiet by evening - a little boring I would say. Even though the hotel claimed to be full, I could hardly see much people around. The cocktails were a waste of money. The pillows were very hard, but they changed them to really nice ones on request. The main areas of the city are on the other side of the river. So anytime you wish to go there, you have to take a cab.

This is the perfect place to enjoy Chiang Rai & Surroundings while staying in a quiet spot at the Riverside. Located on the riverbanks, right next to the Blue Temple, the hotel offers well maintained and spacious rooms, several nice sitting areas inside & outside to enjoy the river view and friendly and helpful staff to make you feel welcome. Breakfast is great and offers everything. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The absolute bonus, though, is the large pool, the best I have seen in a long time. Great water quality (no stinging eyes), clean and very refreshing (not cold as I have read in other comments, at least not for my taste). An absolute delight. We will definitely come back here!

The Hotel offers bicycles free of charge, which is nice. However, they are not in the best condition, which makes this nice offer a somewhat risky one. Unfortunately the brakes are "non-existent" (we tried all 4 available bikes), so should you be tempted to use this offer please test first! Other than this minor issue - no complains whatsoever!

Heerlijk zwembad, jammer dat de jacuzzi niet werkt. Goed eten, zowel ontbijt als lunch en diner. Centrum van de stad eenvoudig met Grab te bereiken (80 Baht). Ligt naast de blauwe tempel.

The room and bathroom was spacious. The daybed in the room was a good feature.

The air conditioning in the room was noisy. The pillows were too thick and hard.
