Dimore San Giovanni - Puglia Mia Apartments

Great location, apartment is right on top of an old church, think it might have been part of the church in the past. There is an outdoor balcony overlooking the square, it has a steel grill floor probably to help rain drainage, with a clothes airer but no outdoor furniture. The outdoor terrace you see in some pictures in the booking is actually for the top floor apartment and is not shared with the lower apartment so check on which apartment you’re booking. Right in the middle of The Old Town in Monopoli. Great restaurants on your doorstep, apartment has a washing machine, cooktop, fridge. Rubbish needs to sorted into three different types, will be explained on check in.

Some outdoor furniture on the balcony would be great

The apartment is a good size for 4 people, the location is excellent, right in the old town. Check in was easy. It was nice that there were some children’s books and toys left in the apartment as well as beach umbrellas. Air conditioning works well and is ideal for the current heat!

The floor was quite dirty to the point where if you walked on with bare feet, the bottom of your foot would be instantly dirty. The apartment is quite bare, with minimum comforts. The dining table/chairs are better suited for outdoors as they are patio furniture. No TV. No salt or coffee provided (these little things could make a big difference!), very minimal decorations which makes the apartment feel quite empty. There was a giant ladder left in one of the rooms as if repairs had just been done and it wasn’t retrieved after. The listing is misleading in our opinion. It is not clearly stated that the rooftop terrace is only for the one bedroom apartment anywhere in the description. The pictures show the rooftop terrace under the same listing and more should be written to differentiate. The 2 bedroom we stayed in had a small terrace and small balcony overlooking the square below but the terrace has a metal grate on the floor which makes it uncomfortable as well as the loud fan from the air conditioner which makes it almost impossible to sit out comfortably on when running. The host asks you to sign a rental agreement as well as pay €200 for a deposit upon arrival which you have to give your card details for. We reluctantly provided our card details but the host did not attempt to charge the card for the deposit until the last night of our 3 night stay. For some reason their charge wasn’t going through so they proceeded to text us 6 times in a row at 11pm after we all (and the 4 year old child) were well asleep. This seems highly unprofessional. We were then told to wait for the cleaner to inspect the apartment the next morning. We didn’t answer any of these messages as we were checking out early in the morning and found it ridiculous. We were also pestered 3 times throughout our stay about making sure to separate the trash correctly and threatened that a fine would be charged if we didn’t.

The apartment is in the old town. Bedrooms are spacious. Beds were comfortable. Hairdryer was better than usual. There were sun umbrellas and plastic chair to take to the beach.

The offer is written in a very confusing way. Photos shown in the offer are mix of two different apartments that are for rent by this agency (for the apartment with two bedrooms that I rented, there is no proper dining table in the flat). For the two room apartment there is also no access to terrace, only balcony with no chairs and table there to sit. There is a small table and garden chairs at the apartment which can be taken to the balcony but you have to move the furniture every time you want to change the place to eat (during the day it is too hot to eat at the balcony). They also freeze an extra of €200 of deposit in case if you destroy something but the lady who was showing us the apartment missed that the kettle was leaking. There was also no flexibility for earlier check-in which was disappointing. Furthermore, I think someone already mentioned it, downstairs next to the apartment there is a bar which has super loud music during whole weekend so if you want to go to sleep at 10 pm or have children that you want to go to sleep at normal hour no option to do that. During the week it was ok, but the weekend was super noisy so I want to make sure people are aware.

Clean, roof terrace.

Air-conditioning unit leaked and there was substantial water on the floor in the main room and into our bedroom. We mopped up the water. The agent made no apology or update on the plan to repair the unit. She simply said was her stuff okay? The sofa bed in the main room could not be folded away because it was broken. The agent was not going to tell us about it until I tried to fold it away. The agent was also late for the meeting to handover the keys to gain access, and did not keep us up-to-date on when this would be as she had said she would. The apartment is clean but pretty soulless and lacking any character and thought for the guest stay. It’s a shame because with a bit more care and attention it could be a really nice appartment

Location and facilities were excellent

There were lots of steps but this is the nature of these beautiful buildings however the lighting in the steps was poor and I felt this could be easily rectified

The apartment is amazing! Great location and is outside the best in bar in Monopoli - Baldovino!!! Great value for money and is a stunning apartment. The apartment was easy to access and everything was clean and tidy. The location was brilliant! Internet was easy to access and everything was to hand. If we had any problems our host's were always on hand to help. I would highly recommend staying here as we had the best time here in Monopoli (Wish we had longer here)
