Historical Hotel - House of Ludington

I understand it's a historical hotel but...the smell was very musty! The code entry took multiple times entering, the view was a roof, fire escape looked to not be safe, the exit door for that didn't even close. Woke up to no electricity in our room and the hall door to our room was closed and dark. No wash cloths in the bathroom. And I wondered if anyone even worked there. All in all I felt uncomfortable and very disappointed!

The property is rather old, though not in a charming way, rather in a worn out way. Some sad and unsuccessful attempts at renovations or improvements were made. For example the modern blinds were broken and not functioning properly, and the window AC was installed in a way that left many gaps, making it inefficient. Half the price would have made it an expensive stay…

The location was great. It was near a couple of city parks and was located on a main street so easy to get to. The lobby was interesting in that it was old and historic looking but definitely needed attention.

Its a historic building. I get it... but, the place is in desperate need of a remodel. Its literally falling apart. Peeling wallpaper, a/c was a unit in the room with an exhaust tube sticking out the window. The stairs and hallway to our room looked like something out of a horror movie and the elevator did not work. yes, we were informed ahead of time about the elevator, but it seems as if it had not worked for a long time. If I had been by myself traveling, I would have not stayed there.

For the price I paid, it seems I should have received one of the best rooms in the hotel, but I wasn't very impressed with the room, although the bed was comfortable, I needed to clothes-pin the drapes together because the window AC unit blew them apart. Further, one of the two bottled waters left in the room had already been opened and a portion of the water had been consumed by someone other than myself. I wasn't pleased about the bottled water incident. It made me think other important housekeeping tasks may have been skimmed over too.
