Sukau tomanggong view bed & breakfast

Hele basic B&B, verwacht dus ook niet te veel van je kamer. De kamer heeft wel alles wat het nodig heeft. Ventilatie en airco. Een basic badkamer met toilet apart. Het ligt prachtig aan de rivier, waar alles om draait. Het is een echte familie bedrijf. Ze regelen alles voor je. Je kan met elke boot cruise mee. Er wordt voor je gekookt bij een restaurant aan de rivier. Ook dit is erg basic, echt hoe de mensen daar leven. Maar lekker gegeten!

Het is met name basic, simpel onderhouden. Ze zouden een opknap beurt moeten geven aan de kamers. Maar verder prima.

Ужасный номер, неприятные запахи, нет постельного белья. Просто одеяло и подушка без сменных наволочек и пододеяльника. Завтрак есть не стали, это совсем не съедобно и антисанитария.

The ac did not work prperly and we heard from other guests had the same problem .The dogs make noice all night can not sleep. Bothroom had an unfortunate smell

The room was fine, clean, better than we expected. We stayed 2 nights and did 6 cruises. We saw various animals and birds during the cruises, including orangutans, proboscis monkeys, other monkeys, crocodiles, hornbills. Unfortunately, we didn't see any elephants - we were told that they were too far, 2h away by boat, and the hotel was not offering tours to reach them. The start of the morning cruise is very atmospheric with the rising mist, and we enjoyed the bright stars during the night cruise. It was interesting to see large fruit bats flying in the evening and feeding on the trees right next to the hotel. The hotel arranged private transport for us from and to Sepilok, at the time requested by us (250 rm one way for 2 people). The car was good and on time both times. It was a bit difficult to get responses from the hotel via Booking.com messages, but via WhatsApp the communication was much better.

The guides did not seem very enthusiastic during the cruises, sometimes they preferred to just chat to each other and check their phones while slowly and aimlessly drifting in the middle of the river. We understand that this is nature and no sightings are guaranteed, but it is nice if the guide is at least trying to look for animals. The area around the hotel is not pretty, and there isn't anything to do between the cruises. We were considering staying for 3 nights at first, and we were glad that we decided to stay only 2 nights. This is more than enough time to do the cruises and see most animals; after a while, the cruises become repetitive. For example, as there wasn't much to do, we bought another night cruise, and it turned out that the route and the animals were exactly the same - it's not possible to see anything different on a night cruise (unlike during morning or afternoon, as those routes can vary a bit). You are asked to wear life jackets which stink with sweat. The jungle walk is very overpriced and not worth it. They say that 30rm is for the guide and 30rm is the entrance fee, but later the guide told us that the area is free to enter (unlike a different area where they used to do the jungle walk in the past). So they continue to charge the "entrance fee" for something that is free to enter. During the walk, you can see some plants and insects, which was interesting enough, but not justifying the price. The food served by the hotel restaurant as part of the package was poor. Meat was of very low quality. But the papaya served for dinner was really nice. No duvet cover (but they said they wash the duvets).

Very good location. 30 seconds by walk to the pier and 15 seconds to the simple restaurant. The host was very friendly and helped to solve different issues for us. They also arranged a perfect transfer from Sukau to Semporna. The guide JD was a real professional and helped us to see a lot of different animals, birds, snakes. Great experience and highly recommended.

Maybe the only disadvantage was the lack of mosquito frame on windows.. But it is easily to be solved.
