Rohanna IS a nice and Kind Person.

The kitchen IS very dirty. WE couldn't eat the food a second time. The big room in which WE stayed IS Not ready. The acomodation had a Touch of camping. There are big holes in both Side of the wall. Plankets thin Like paper. IT was very cold during the night. Without a Car or motorcycle everything ist very difficult to reach. Sorry the owner IS a nice Person but WE cannot recommend a stay there.

The stay is located beautifully in between a tea plantation, with an amazing view which you can see from the rooftop of the stay. This is where we were served tasty local food. Rohana is a kind and helpful man😊 from the stay you can hike in the Knucles range, which we loved. Definitely recommend this to everyone!

The view is great and the big windows are lovely to see out of. The pictures are pretty accurate so what you see is what you get. Food portions for dinner were enormous, although full board comes at 5000lkr pp. It wasn't clear to us from the beginning, but it is possible to get a bus from Kandy to the main gate - once you are there busses also go to some important hiking/view points but it's definitely a little easier with access to a tuk tuk.

I would have perhaps preferred less quantity and better quality with the food - it definitely wasn't bad, but I've had better in Sri Lanka without the need to over cater. The room had a beautiful view but the only let down was that both the spaces above the entry door and balcony door are open, so a draft blows through the entire time. The nights get chilly and there's only a very thin blanket provided so it wasn't a welcome breeze. The building in general is weirdly designed and half finished in places. No towels were provided so be sure to have your own. We were charged a 300lkr pp/day "utility" fee to use the kitchen for our own meals as we only ordered dinner. But the kitchen is small and it's difficult to use especially when the lovely lady is cooking there as well. There was very little space to actually keep food and use the space.

Rohana is a nice person, very helpful and social. We had an experience with him as he offered us a ride from Kandy. Overall, the premises have homestay feel (dont expect hotel like stay here). If you are interested in doing five knuckles hiking, these premises can easily work as a base for that hike. Check Google Maps for: Dawatagala Knuckles Natural Trail. Keep in mind this place is pretty far from Kandy and if arriving with bus, you should ask for help directly from Rohan. Bus ride from Rohan estate to Kandy took around 2 and half hour. We had to switch bus at Wattegama. Thank you for great coffee and delicious bananas.

We appreciate the effort that was put into making the meals, but we were a bit disappointed with the quality considering the price. It didn’t quite meet our expectations, and I hoped for something more in line with the cost.

Rohana was our favourite host and a stay in Sri Lanka. He is very helpful (helped us to find a way using public transport to get to his place, suggested several options for hiking), empathetic and so nice. The food they serve is perfect, portions are huge and deffinitely worth the price. The lodge is almost at the top of a hill therefore the view from rooms is phenomenal. The room offers a bed, blankets, a table with a chair, there is a shared bathroom.

Nothing was a problem, just be aware that the accomodation is still in a building therefore you may experience a slight discomfort.

Location is awesome. It has a stunning view. Owner is so friendly and a well educated retired professional. The best part for me was the view from the room. It has a large window that offers a view of the entire surrounding area. Access is very convenient, thanks to the well-maintained road. After a 10-minute walk, you’ll reach the camping site at the peak of the mountain where this property is located. It was an amazing experience as it has a 360 degree view.

Having a television would be a great update.

This is a homestay. Rohana will welcome you and serve tea/coffee, dinner and breakfast either at the rooftop or in the living room. The family room has a stunning view of the mountains from your bed. So the shared balcony and rooftop. The twin room was advertised with balcony, but it was at the back with a side window, dark and no view. Its bathroom was outside shared with the hosts and only cold water. Access to the balcony from outside too. The two rooms we booked were connected via the bathroom of family room, which had hot water. Breakfast served was plenty and tasty. Dinner couldn’t meet the palate of our guests. Rohana has even his own peak like 1km from the place, and has interesting stories to tell. Another double room in the corner was being built. Overtime it’s gonna be a great place for sure. It’s accessible by car.

Overall the pictures were better, and the rooms were rather provisional. Rohana is a man with many projects in mind, he would certainly turn this place into a special experience. The views are simply breathtaking. Go for the views!

Rohana, the owner is a very dedicated and caring host who perfectly knows the area. We got all the recommendations where to go for hiking (e.g. several waterfalls, a natural pool, different routes around knuckles mountain range). Also we got to eat the best Sri Lankan Food on our trip so far, which we enjoyed on the rooftop terrace with the most amazing view over the mountains. This rooftop dinner itself is worth the visit. Thank you Rohana, for this unforgettable and much to short visit at your place. We will definitely come back! :-)

The rooms are simple but very clean and there’s everything you need. Don’t trust google maps for the directions. Rohana sends out all the details on how to reach the place - make sure to check your messages after booking (we overlooked them and ended on some bumpy roads). You will also be asked for your food preferences beforehand.

The host Rohana is exceptionally welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and just a really nice person. Gave us so many tips for our activities in Knuckles, showed us his garden and gave us information about all the native plants and prepared absolute feasts for us for breakfast and dinner. Location has to be one of the best ones I’ve stayed at in my whole experience travelling.
