"Loved it"

9.0

Ideal location, easy access to great walks with amazing views. Very comfortable with a cozy feel We had a small issue with the drainage but that was dealt with the same day.

The camera on the tree outside looking straight at the windows felt quite invasive. Could be mounted in a better place

"Perfect stay for family of four."

9.0

We loved the property. Cosy, clean and well equipped. Peaceful idyllic location. The kids loved the on-site adventure area, which they had all to themselves due to the time of year!

Nothing.

"Loved the peace and quiet."

8.0

The location is wonderful. If you want be peace and quiet then this is for you, if you want to be near shops and restaurants perhaps not. The property itself has everything you need. We also had a visit from the friendly peacocks.

Some of furniture is a bit jaded and the carpets could do with replacing but these are minor things. The heating is a bit hit and miss but the water is hot plus there’s a log burner, albeit with a limited amount of logs. You also need to take your glass waste with you to a recycling centre. A separate container for these would have been useful.

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage in Aberdeenshire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it was the perfect peaceful retreat and a great place to unwind. The setting was truly picturesque, with plenty of scenic walks right on the doorstep. The cottage itself was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially enjoyed the warm, homely feel and the little touches that made it extra welcoming. Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable stay, and we would definitely return in the future.

"Een paradijsje"

9.0

"Comfortable House But Some Negatives"

6.0

Quiet location. Comfortable house. Walks from house. Good facilities in house. Very clean. Tasteful interior.

- 4 logs for wood burner are not enough for 2 days in winter; when you pay for a self-catering house you expect a generous yet limited supply of fuel. - Did not receive key code 24hrs ahead of visit, though host responded promptly when advised. - No ice cube trays available. -Too many repeated signs in house, which creates an unwelcoming feel. - Messy covered outdoor seating area with no attempt to brush out dead leaves. It would be nice for the grass area by house to be maintained to enjoy the views/sun. - Shocked to see a camera on a tree monitoring entrance to the house, which is not declared in details; it is extremely unpleasant to know how images are used or if they are kept!

"Idyllic location, perfect peace, comfy beds !"

9.0

The location of the property is idyllic. We loved the peace and quiet and the fact it is immersed in nature. The woodland area behind the property is beautiful. Ideally located for trips to the Cairngorms. The beds are super comfy and the bed linen is exquisite. The property was immaculately clean and the facilities were great. We saw the peacocks who lived on the estate and they were feeding on our doorstep. We also saw a red squirrel and a field of red deer in a field nearby. You can't help but feel calm and relaxed in this property. We would definitely recommend it and would definitely return for another visit !

TV needs replacing as speaker sounds like it's blown. Would have liked a rubber bath mat for safety in the shower. We felt more than four logs for a two day stay in September should have been included, given the price we paid. The log burner is all part of the experience after all.

"A Cosy Cottage in a lovely location."

7.0

Red Squirrel Cottage is nestled in lovely woods. There is plenty to do and explore in the surrounding area. Everything in the cottage was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The wood burning stove made our Christmas stay very cosy. The cottage was decorated for Christmas and there was an ample supply of kindling and firewood, once we found it. There were a few hiccups, but the host responded quickly and resolved the issues — impressive considering he had to come out on Christmas morning.

There were a few issues. When we arrived we found the heating was not working. We consulted the instruction booklet left on the table, but there were many inaccuracies in this guide. Things like the location of manuals and the wood store were wrong. We contacted the host about the heating, he came and fixed it on the day we arrived. Two days later, Christmas, it was broken again. The host did come and got it working again. We wished we were told about the lack of cleaning supplies and tea towels and bin bags. Having to take all the recycling and rubbish away to bins a bit of a walk away was inconvenient, but would have been a lot easier if there were spare bin bags. We stayed for three nights over Christmas and generated more than the small bin bag that was in the kitchen when we arrived. Despite the above, I would highly recommend Red Squirrel Cottage. Forewarned is forearmed — bring cleaning supplies, tea towels, cleaning cloths, and bin bags!
