Hidden Gem Hideaway Retreat in Central Town Area with AC

On June 29 I found a listing offering Hidden Gem at just 48€. It was only after I booked & paid when I realized that the total price was 124€, because of "cleaning fee" of more than 70€ & other fees. Later in a chat the owner claimed that the listing included the total price & that I supposedly knew it, which is completely false. Right now the owner, a company called Key To The Straits, is offering the same apartment at 52€, of course with a hidden cleaning fee &, at least when entered from an app, which is how I booked it, there is NOT any single place where the actual total price is shown! Moreover, in one place it explicitly says "The property will charge you € 52.04", without even mentioning the hidden fees at all! You may see it at the attached screenshot. Aside, the owner sent me a message demanding to pay in advance 105 pounds (although I booked in € & the pound equivalent of the total shown in the app was only 102 pounds!) via a "bank transfer" to a "bank" called SumUp Payments Ltd. I searched & found that SumUp is NOT a bank, but just a payment system. In 10 years on Booking I never paid in advance or via any payment systems, only by card inside of Booking.com &, in case of hotels & hostels, at the site. Furthermore, the company dem&ed to send my passport copy to some Gmail address, which I also never did at Booking. Booking.com itself doesn't recommend to share personal data out of the platform. Taking into account all of the mentioned, I came to the conclusion that that was a scam & immediately contacted both Booking.com & the owner & asked to cancel the booking. The owner refused, claiming it had not a technical option to cancel, but after both Booking & I send them a request to cancel w/o charging me it again refused now under the pretext that "it was against their policies". UPD.

Great location, good little kitchen and washing machine was added benefit.

Excellant location (although a short climb from the main street.) Everything you need for your holiday stay. Although I didn't use the washing machine or the kichen to cook in, it was all there. I did appreciate the excellant shower. The property is old by it's very nature which adds to it's charm. And it is 3 doors up from an old bar, well known to all RN sailors that ever passed through Gib over the years. (now sadly closed).

It was dirty, in the bed there were hair and yellow spots … we needed to cover the bed with the towels … On top it was very cold inside , and no heating is available … horrible experience…

The central location was perfect for getting to family, and as a starting point for trips, visits and other activities. Absolutely EVERYTHING had been thought about for a comfortable stay, down to the umbrella for showers.
