Close to city centre home

Basic accommodation in a good location close to Belfast city centre.

There's a few issues at the property that need to be dealt with.

The property was close to a local event we were attending

The property was absolutely not fit for rent out. The front door has a normal internal door handle and has a cloth stuffed in a hole in the door instantly making you think this isn’t a great place. The whole place is run down, dirty and in need of a paint all over and new carpet. The floor was disgustingly dirty and the carpet stained and filthy. The walls were dirty and where there is panelling they are chipped and scored to bits. It advertises 3 bedroom and when we got there we were missing a bedroom. False listing. The back area which is photographed nicely was not fit for use. When we opened the back door there was a large pole in the middle of the door., shears, sprayers and other tools lying on the floor and the chair with the furniture stacked. The fridge was filled with someone else’s food so clearly hadn’t been cleaned out. Cupboard doors lying off, the sofa bed is fit for the dump and in general the worse place I’ve stayed. The owner seemed lovely when we spoke to him which is the only thing this property has going for it. £150 was extortion for what we had to stay in

The host was still cleaning the property when we were checking in. Lack of a working smoke detector. Lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom.

Really nice host with good communication and a great location. Beds were really comfortable and felt like a family home. Nice to have some garden space at the front and back. Property was only 15 mins away from the ferry.

You get what you pay for I guess. This was on the cheaper side and was fine for a trip with 3 friends. Had I been with my family, I'd have been disappointed with the facilities. Tiles are falling off in the shower, the carpet looks like it needed replaced 10 years ago. When the front door is missing a keyhole and is replaced with a cloth stuffed into it, it doesn't exactly give you the reassurance of safety at the property. All of the above could be so easily sorted but I understand home renovations are expensive. If the properyt is going for £100 a night, it's fine for a night or two. I would not consider paying much more. If the place got some love - There's no reason why it couldn't be £200-£300 a night and be a fantastic property for visiting Belfast.

The main bedroom was spacious. Tom communicated quickly.

There had obviously been work done to create a homely atmosphere, however, there were issues: the washing machine didn’t work and we were informed later the water had been turned off; we came home to find we had no electricity - rectified within an hour; the toaster didn’t work properly, the freezer didn’t work; the back area was dingy and had things stored in it and there were no instructions left for how anything worked. The second bedroom was overcrowded with furniture and is dark. For anyone with mobility issues the stairs would be a problem - particularly the top few stairs. Water droplets on the back door indicated there may be an issue with an upstairs pipe. No instructions regarding the heating.
