The Cloud Hanthana, Kandy

We stayed in the room with a balcony and the views are amazing, the windows are super large. The room was large, clean and comfortable with good AC. The bathroom was also good. There were no hangers in the wardrobe and a bedside lamp would provide nicer lighting, it was a bit too bright at night with the lights available. No bins in the room and no daily cleaning. The location is quiet and out of the way, but we liked that. It requires a tuktuk and you may have to wait 10 minutes for one, but that's ok. Sadly, we didnt get off to the best start which dampened our relationship with the host - Daniel (the older employee) asked us if we were going to the city, and said he was too so we could share a tuktuk down. When we got out and asked how much he tried to charge us 1000rs (4 times the price on PickMe!). We were shocked and said its a 300rs ride (which to be fair should have also been split between us and him - but we obviously would have paid his share anyway) the tuktuk driver got quite angry and impatient and said we pay him 500, so we did. Not the best start and maybe just sort your own taxis or don't be fooled by kindness and clarify prices first like we should have 😅

Cloud Hanthana Hotel is a great place to relax. The staff is very attentive and always ready to help. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The food is absolutely delicious, with every meal prepared to perfection. For easy access, I recommend taking a taxi, PickMe, or Uber from Kandy city, it’s convenient and affordable. A perfect place for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway!

We liked everything.

The hotel is nice and clean, offering a great view and a calm, peaceful environment that's perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room service was excellent, and the staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring a comfortable stay.

The minor drawback was the absence of tea or coffee-making facilities in the rooms. However, this was easily manageable as you could conveniently order from the hotel. And also wi-fi signal strength is poor in the room.

The view from the balcony was amazing.
