Guest House - oxfordshire

Very close to venue we were attending Banbury Rfc. Private house, very welcoming host. Comfortable bed. Kettle, teas/coffees provided. Microwave available though didn't use. En suite - clean and tidy.

Not a problem for us but room on second floor if any guests not so nimble.

Very tranquil, quiet and private, handy roadside parking alongside - good location for arriving by car and onwards journey south of Banbury.

Conveniently located for my weekend workshop

Delay in accessing the property

Convenient for a couple of nights while visiting the area. Close to town centre and supermarket.

No parking on site. No cutlery and very little crockery although there was a microwave . No meals available. Not informed that there were 2 flights of stairs to the room.

This property was a 2 minute drive to the Banantyne spa where we had breakfast, followed by spa treatments and lunch. It was the perfect location for this event.

The pillowcases could have been ironed & there was no blind in the dormer window. Neither of these bothered us in any way but they could improve the overall standard.

The only thing going for it was that the bed was comfy and I will say that the female owner was friendly and welcoming.

On Arrival the address was challenging to find in the dark as it is down a dead end road. The advert on Booking.com said there was a kitchen which was why I booked it. I have allergies and like to be able to cook a meal. However, it was made aware to me that the kitchen wasn't to0 be used by guests because it was FILTHY. She said 'I could put a pizza in if I wanted to". I wasn't left with much choice but to use the kitchen but it was really disgusting. The room was on the top floor, however the bottom of the stairs was being used as a laundry storage space and was really untidy. The carpet in the room hadn't been hoovered in weeks, it was covered in fluff and black bits. The bathroom was also very untidy and not very clean. The room was very miss matched, nothing matched, the TV channels didn't work, only freeview and signal limiting. There was also only 1 plate and a knife and fork. No bowl or anything for my breakfast. I have never complained in 10 years of using booking.com but I can not not leave a review for this home. At £60 a night I did expect a higher standard. I was due back in May for a second part to my training course but I won't be staying here!
