CBD Apartment, River View

At the end of a drab little laneway is a block of four art deco units. There is covered parking. The entry instructions worked perfectly. Inside you straight away notice the many origonal art deco features and a great view of the river. The lounge/dining/kitchen area is spacious, as is the bathroom. For once there are more than enough powerpoints (but see below). The location is at the very edge of the business district with plenty of good eateries. About a 15 minutes drive from the Gardens. Overall a good place for a short stay.

The difference between good and great is usually in the details. Coffee was supplied but no tea or milk. There is actually very little hanging space in the bedrooms. In the main the wardrobe is filled with equipment and basically unusable. The second bedroom wardrobe has mould damage, smells a little and probably should not be used. In the second bedroom both blinds are broken. In the large bathroom there are no hooks (can there ever be too many?) There are no coasters or place mats, which explains the damaged and scuffed surface of the dining table. In the kitchen there is a tap for a water filter. It doesn't work. Along one wall there are six power points. None work. Off the unfenced deck there is an excellent view. There is a one metre drop that parents of young children may be concerned about. Finally the morning glory off the rear deck should be removed. Not only is it a pest species in New Zealand but it blocks some of that wonderful river view.

A beautiful art deco designed apartment. The view of the Waikato River and trees is lovely. The kitchen is well stocked and the hosts were amazingly welcome, leaving us treats like crisps, chocolates, a bottle of wine, a six pack of beer and two litres of milk! Wow! Lots of linen, towels, large rooms, great location and under cover parking.

Great location & good value to come with a car park

Property needs a decent clean - the floors were dirty & sticky in places, there was a lot of cobwebs. Lacking some basic necessities - no bath mat for the shower, no cloth to wipe benches, no chopping board in the kitchen. Host was not very responsive - had to chase for check in information. We booked the apartment from 2pm, but didn’t receive the check in information until 3:30pm after several messages and did not receive an apology.
