Smugglers Snug

Excellent location, just across the road from coastline, pub, shop and buses.

Bed was a little too firm for me.

We had a lovely time in Smugglers. The place is decorated with taste, very clean, comfortable and well equiped. All you need is there. Coming from the Beaujolais region in France, the view on the sea was a delight and a total escape for us. We could have stayed for ever !

The location for the beach is perfect. You can see the sea and pebbled beach from the front of the property. The property is well laid out, and you couldn't ask for a better space. It has a small terrace as you approach the front door. Inside is bright and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with crockery, cutlery, glassware, and appliances for your stay, and Tesco is across the road for fresh milk, fruit, and other items. The bedrooms are spacious, and windows can be opened to let air in, especially during the summer and spells of hot weather. Water pressure is excellent for showers. There isn't a bath in this property, but 2 walk-in showers. Small toiletries were provided and towels for each person.

The beds are not as comfortable as they look. The pillows are not firm or soft, just old. Whilst we had a great stay, there is a very specific request to empty bins before you leave and leave the property clean and tidy. We did do this, but after we left, we were informed there was a breakage. We didn't break anything, but as we didn't have evidence or proof, we were unable to dispute it. The property owners asked for a payment to cover the breakage. Again, whilst we didn't break anything, we agreed to send a contribution. Less than 24 hours later, just 48 hours from checking out, we received a chase for payment. This felt like a bullying tactic to get money from us. They asked us for the payment when less than 24 hours earlier I had agreed to a contribution despite informing them we hadn't broken anything. This has soured our experience, and whilst the property is amazing, I wouldn't recommend this property now due to the way they have accused me of a breakage and demanded money. Lesson learned....always take pictures of every room before you leave so you can have evidence of how you left the property. We will be doing this, and this has affected who we chose as a property to stay with.

The location and the way the apartment was presented were just perfect. Great attention to detail and a lovely seaside village vibe throughout.

Great location with all the appliances & materials stocked for a self catering vacation. 2 bathrooms with a shower in each were ideal. The layout suited us as a family.

The home was well equipped. The fact that it had two bathrooms was really good. Everything was decorated to the highest standard. All amenities you could want plus more. Loved sitting in the window watching the sea. Loved the fact that the configuration of the bedroom can be changed to singles for future visits with my kids.

We managed to park outside most of the time, using the parking app to pay. Tea times were busier but there were a number of other car parks around. So some car shuffling may be needed but always managed to park outside overnight. Just for awareness - This was not an issue at all and wouldn't put me off returning to this fabulous property
