Seaside Cottage, Gili Air

Location was top spot on the island. Endless sea views, comfy balcony furniture and free water.

We absolutely loved how unique and inviting the cottage was, as well as the location being absolute beach front. The facilities were also great, the bed is comfortable and there’s a lovely daybed on the front veranda to enjoy the view. It was the perfect spot to watch the sunrise and sunset from right outside the cottage, and the beach was great for swimming at higher tides.

The only trouble with this cottage is that it is located right next to a restaurant which often plays music during the night. However we thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of being right next to a bar/restaurant so it was worth the trade off!

During our recent visit to Gili Air, we had the pleasure of staying at the delightful Seaside Cottage, and it was an experience that surpassed all expectations. Owned by the incredibly kind and compassionate Jon, this cottage is a haven designed with utmost guest comfort in mind. From the moment we arrived, we noticed the thoughtful attention to detail that made our stay truly special. Every aspect of the cottage was meticulously planned, right down to the inclusion of small amenities like a scissor, a small towel, and multiple international plug points. These little touches made us feel right at home and showed the owner’s commitment to ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay for every guest. Situated right in front of the beach, the location of Seaside Cottage couldn’t have been more perfect. With no obstructions or interruptions, we had the luxury of easy access to the beach anytime we desired. The tranquility and beauty of the surroundings were simply breathtaking, creating a serene atmosphere that melted away our worries and allowed us to fully unwind. While the water pressure in the tap varied, Jon took the time to explain the situation to us and expressed his dedication to improving it. This level of transparency and commitment to guest satisfaction was truly commendable. It demonstrated Jon’s genuine care for his guests and his constant efforts to enhance their experience. The cottage’s well-equipped kitchen was another highlight. It had everything one would need to prepare their own meals, allowing us to enjoy the convenience and flexibility of cooking during our stay. It added a touch of homeliness and made our experience even more enjoyable. Our two-night stay at Seaside Cottage was nothing short of fabulous. The serene atmosphere, the attention to detail, and Jon’s warm hospitality created a memorable experience that we will cherish.

Water pressure but hey, a small island, and it won't have all the city facilities.

The location and cottage are beautiful. It is an idyllic setting. The balcony and views are amazing. Although it says no breakfast included Jon organises with a local restaurant to deliver breakfast to your door (at no extra cost). You just place your order with the time you want it delivered the afternoon before. There is an information pack with some local numbers in which was very useful. We used Carla to book a private boat trip. She was incredibly helpful and even acted as our cash machine as the local one didn't have any money in it!! It cost £55 for 5 hours and worth every penny - Andy the skipper speaks very good English and was very knowledgeable. We also used the information pack to book our horse and cart to take us to the ferry - around 200 IDR. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The main town is walkable but would take 20 - 25 minutes.

The local bars take it in turn to have a late night opening and Legend (next door but one) has it on a Wednesday. It is loud and goes on until 2-3 am. Earplugs are provided in the cottage! Whilst we were there the next door bar decided to have an extra party on the Friday. They notified Jon that this was happening and to be fair Jon booked us another room for the night inland so that we wouldn't be disturbed 2 nights out of our 4. We chose not to take up his offer as we really loved waking up in the cottage with the sound of the waves and views.

A gorgeous little bed sit cottage with it's own private beach area, situated in the best place on the island. Perfectly positioned to see the sunset and sunrise. Jon was an excellent host, very informative and helpful and checked in often to see how we were getting on. The rooms were well air conditioned and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked for all your needs. A welcome pack gave us a bunch of contact numbers for activities and useful information which we took full advantage of. Breakfast was delivered to us each morning from a local cafe and was very tasty, and the Pelangi bar next door also made us feel very welcome. Jon has done an excellent job at making this little shack feel comfortable and homely and I would highly recommend staying here. Thank you for a great few days. James and Lisa

The water pressure in the shower is pretty much non existent and what little there is only lasts a few minutes but this was a small price to pay for what is otherwise a little slice of paradise

The place to be! Great location, clean cottage, with lots of storage space and fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook by yourself. Nice bars and restaurants near by and you can enjoy sunrise as well as sunset on your own little "private" beach. We really enjoyed relaxing at the porch and in the hammocks. It was hard to leave this cute cottage after three nights and we hope to return one time!

The water pressure in the shower was low when we stayed here one month ago.

Get your own piece of paradise - from the most serene early morning sunrise to the traditional house down to your own beach. Great breakfast, the host is super nice and the place is incredible just to be there - one of the few places where there is actually proper grass. I have to circle back to the host: he is helpful, caring, friendly and well prepared. The cottage has all and more then you'll need.

The property is made out of wood, with the traditional local technique - so the sound isolation is theoretical - as there is a bar on one side and a massage place on the other, this means that you hear everything. This is not an issue as usually by 10 it's over.
