"Beautiful landscape but not a very nice area to live in."

It did what it said on the tin, cosy and suitable for our needs

The surrounding area was very run down and not a lot of places for evening food/entertainment.

"Great base location for exploring Snowdonia"

The cottage was well kitted out and in a great location for exploring Snowdonia. Modern features in the cottage made for a comfortable stay and the host's recommended local walks were excellent. Plenty of space for a family of four, easy parking, comfy beds etc...

Despite very useful local amenities (co-op shop etc), we didn't find anywhere great locally to go out on a night with a family. Ended up in the car to various places to eat out or cooking in the cottage (which is fine! But we had hoped there might be more options locally). The cottage does lack an outdoor space to relax in if the weather is nice, which we hadn't considered when booking (we had been promised rain in Wales!). It's great value though without that, but I'd bear that in mind next time.
