"Disgraceful property and ‘management’ company"

The location is central. The photographer who took the photos for the listing needs an award!

The property is filthy. Multiple layers of dust and cobwebs everywhere, a dirty smell throughout attempted to be disguised by air fresheners. Huge disgusting stain on the carpet on the bedroom floor. Lukewarm (at best) shower. Filthy communal entrance with wheelie bin part obstructing exit. ‘Garden’ is filthy with two lifting joins making it a major trip hazard (not that you would want to sit out as the fake grass stinks). Really noisy with upstairs neighbours stomping up and down communal entrance stairs in the middle of the night. Fire blanket and extinguisher in kitchen were both last serviced in 2007 and 2009 respectively. I have stayed in better student accommodation and youth hostels. Checked out early and complained but to no avail. Management company, Pass the property, class all of those issues as ‘wear and tear’ and refuse to provide any form of refund. They also took £200 damage deposit twice and when questioned advised it was an error and to take it up with my bank. Booking.com haven’t been much better, offering £25 refund even though I paid £276 for two nights and didn’t stay for the full time and also reported the issues and sent photos. An absolute disgrace of a property and managed by a cowboy company. Have spent hours trying to sort out this mess and now severely out of pocket and ultimately didn’t get our little family break away. Furious doesn’t come close.

""STUNNING"-LY BAD! AVOID"

Location and the poetic license of the photography

We booked this trip as a recuperation for my elderly father who had just had heart surgery 6 weeks before. We chose this apartment for location, "garden" as listed in description and accessibility. When we arrived, there were 2 flights of stairs (not mentioned in the description only in the email sent the night before), no garden and the garden view consisted of a fire escape, a manky old shed and 2 bins), there was also a bin inside the entrance hall, which absolutely stunk. I immediately contacted the property owners, pass the property, who jumped straight to "you can't have a refund", when all we wanted was to be moved. After several exchanges and phone calls, it became apparent we were stuck. The customer service was unsympathetic, unhelpful and a little rude. We decided to make the best of it, even though that meant we could not go back to the apartment in the day, due to the stairs, which mobility wise were too much. The overall cleanliness was very poor, there were bad stains on the carpet and walls, cooker hood was very dusty, there were cobwebs on the ceilings, mold in the shower and very thick dust on the light fittings in the bedrooms. Regarding facilities, in the living area, we have seen better furniture in hostels. The bedrooms were better equipped and the murals and bed heads were a nice touch, but the beds were shockingly soft and old. The plumbing was a disaster, luke warm showers (we turned the water temp up on the hive and the boiler but it made no difference in the shower), loose sink and both the bathroom sink and shower drained away so slowly they were unusable. They had said to contact with any issues but after such poor customer service, we had wasted enough time via emails, booking.com messaging and telephone. In a nut shell, don't stay here! For £150 a night, the least we expected was a clean place with hot water. We go to Whitby quite often and this is by far the worst place we have stayed.

"Unpleasantly stunned apartment in central Whitby"

Bedrooms well decorated, clean and comfortable.

Entrance hall and stairs to apartment very dirty and plaster was peeling from walls. Garden room very disappointing and window sill extremely dirty, builders steps in corner covered in cement and paint. Dangerous join in artificial turf carpet. Cupboard under sink had only basic saucepans, no frying pan or casserole dish. In same cupboard together with dust and cobwebs empty bottles of cleaning materials. N tin opener or rack for grill pan. Filthy plugs in washbasin and shower so that water drained very slowly.Bad stain on one bedroom carpet.

"Excellent place for WGW 25"

location was amazing, for what we needed right in the middle of the very vibrant town for Whitby goth Weekender. The apartment we stayed in was beautiful and very inviting. Will definitely be booking again on our next trip to Whitby.

The only things we're the beds they were uncomfortable.
