Charming Apartments in Funchal - São Gonçalo

View from terrace was beautiful. Excellent if you have a hire car. Parking right in front of apartment and easy access to roads to get around island. Shops not too far away. Lovely big apartment with everything needed for our stay. Comfy bed and good shower pressure too. Lovely garden area too. Enjoyed our stay here.

Work going on across the street on house. They only worked during working hours though, so didn't really affect us.

DO NOT BOOK THIS APARTMENT IN 2025. Due to building work either side there is no peace from 8.00am until 6.00pm every day except for Sunday. This will probably continue for the next 8-12 months due to the construction of new houses. We booked this apartment for its amazing views and recommend quiet neighbourhood. The owner had failed to tell us about the building work prior to our booking, which would have given us the opportunity to make an informed decision re going ahead with the booking. The following lack of communication from both the owner and Booking.com was inept and negligent towards us, their clients, and we have not been refused compensated, in any way, for our spoiled very precious holiday. A final offer of a refund on any nights we chose not to stay, with 2 days left, was simply not good enough. Aside from this, the description of the facilities is incorrect. There is no supermarket or bar on site, they are up a very steep hill. The apartment is very dated and lacks basic comforts (lack of plug sockets, no adaptors to allow bedside lights and phones to be plugged in simultaneously), dangerous rugs still on the polished, wooden floors, despite previous reviews stating this), pillows made of concrete, harsh lighting, extremely uncomfortable outside furniture and very little place to sit and enjoy the view (after 6.00pm!) outside. Amazing view, but there are plenty of other apartments in this area and all over hilly Funchal with equally beautiful views.

Large ground floor apartment in a residential area. Huge rooms. Comfy bed. Well stocked kitchen Fab views from the front patio of the cruise ships and Funchal. 5 min walk up to great restaurant/bar, shop and buses into Funchal.

The apartment was super clean and very spacious! It has everything you need and would be perfect for a family stay.

It’s a little far from Funchal Centre so if you are not driving, you would need to rely on taxis in and out. However, I think the price definitely reflects that!

The amazing view, the spacious apartment, we rented a car and had no issue to park there , so close to Funchal but yet far enough to enjoy some peace and quiet

Not much I couldn't like...just had one issue with the shower and the sink handle that broke but quick response from the owner and got fixed the same morning

Amazing view, absolute silence in the neighborhood, sitting areas on both sides of the house, grilling area, huge apartment. We really appreciated the possibility to use the washing machine for free, even the gel was provided. Two places to hang the clothes outside, one of them under the roof so even the rain was not a problem.

The beds were quite small, about 140 - 160 cm. But comfy anyway 😊
