Villa Bahia Del Sol

Lovely setting not too far from Bocas del Toro town (cheap to get a taxi there). Several local shops and restaurants nearby. David, the host, was great - very friendly and helpful. Fantastic shared lounge and kitchen. Decking area at the back is great with swings, hammocks, lots of seating and really good views, especially at sunset. We had very enjoyable stay!

Location was good, nice cool breeze off the ocean whete as in town was hot and muggy. The owner was very helpful and willing to help with information about activities and places to go. The locals are very friendly.

A hidden gem of peace and quiet

It’s standard to not have warm water in Panama. But here we had! Not in big volumes but the bit was amazing

I cannot say a bad thing about the property!

First, David’s place is very beautiful and well clean. It is also very good located, not far from the center of Bocas. David offers to use a fridge and you have a great kitchen with everything you’ll need. The must : a big shower with a good waterflow. Now, let’s talk about the host, David. He was without a doubt, the best host we had during all our trip in Panama. He makes you feel at home and he’s very attentionate towards his guests. For example, he gave us paddle, good advices for restaurants, beaches and activites. He’s always available for his guests. The most important thing you have to know about him, it’s his talent for making very strong and tasty mojitos. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of white rhum before you come !

Dave was very welcoming and knowledgeable about activities, sights, and had great suggestions for surf spots. He was also easy to communicate with, both before and during our stay. We really enjoyed getting to know the other guests while spending time in the common spaces. It was only a moderate walk into the main part of Bocas Town and there are multiple options close by for groceries/food. The location for us was perfect (away from the fray), we were not looking to be in the middle of town. Taxis were super easy to flag down if it was raining (or if we were tired/lazy). The view from the sea view (bay-view) room was beautiful!

My husband thought he had booked a place with with air-conditioning, but alas, only certain rooms had air-conditioning... no aircon in the common spaces. (This is our mistake, not the Villa's.) Thankfully there is constant air-flow with all the doors open and ceiling fans throughout the day and night. With all the doors open throughout the afternoon/evening, be prepared for mosquitoes (which is to be expected in a tropical environment). Surprisingly they are mild thanks to the bay breeze.

The view off the back of the house, over the water, was superb. David is also an excellent host, very friendly and attentive and provided many great recommendations.
