Ash Retreat Hot Tub

The retreat was immaculately clean and fully stocked with all the essentials. The bed was the comfiest bed I have stayed in away from my own bed at home even better than expensive hotels. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, especially welcome after a day completing the Northumberland Mighty Hike for MacmillanCancer, which helped to ease our aching limbs. Look forward to another visit soon.

Location was excellent and lodge was comfortable

It had a smell in the lodge when we first arrived, this was located to be in the spare room I think someone sweaty had been sleeping in there so opened the window and seemed to go. Never used that room other than storage.

It was a nice location that could have been improved with proper upkeep and maintenance. We didn’t spend much time in the accommodation as we were out seeing the many sites on offer!

There was an odd smell to the accommodation, probably down to the stagnant water in the washing machine that it appears has been there for a couple of years after reading other reviews. There was also a plug in air freshener that was empty but switched on, possibly a fire risk. The bathroom door handle was broken resulting in my daughter getting stuck. The slabs around the hot tub were all uneven. The place could do with a deep clean, there was oil in the cupboards with the pans, the vents were full of dust, glasses had lipstick on them, the outside cushions have just been left to the elements and mattress /pillow protectors should be cleaned often too.

The caravan was very modern and equipped with everything we needed. The location was ideal for accessing lots of activities in the local area. The hot tub was an added bonus too!

A fan for the main bedroom would have been ideal. Perhaps there was one but we didn’t notice. It was so warm when we were there which made it a bit sweaty!

Great location in a quiet area right next to the woods. Loved the open plan breakfast bar and living room, loads of space. Warm and cosy. Throws provided for the cooler nights. Netflix and WiFi decent. Plenty storage, adequate showers with good water pressure. Well equipped kitchen. Hot tub fabulous, enjoyed it so much. Host was lovely and very helpful with all my questions.

Few little maintenance/cleaning issues which we felt need attention but didn't spoil our lovely stay. Beds are very firm, quite uncomfortable.

Washing machine not in use, one of the showers initially was blocked,leaving us with one shower for 3 people initially. oven/grill not properly cleaned, the microwave my partner had to clean it herself upon moving in, windows dirty, decking area needing a good jet wash & decking patio furniture unclean & insufficient to sit outside, used ashtray on table ( we are non smokers ) disappointed not have been informed the washing machine was not available to us & we ended up having to use site laundrette, at an extra cost to us. All of that said there was good communication between ourselves & the owner, who was understanding of our complaints & did attempt to resolve the issues. Overall we as a family were disappointed on arrival at the property, it's reasonable for paying guests to expect the highest of cleaning standards but this wasn't the case. Bit of a shame overall as the property has potential, change the patio furniture, give the place a deep clean & remove the shrubbery from the guttering would be a good start. Disappointed & won't look to return.
