Retreat on the Lake

It was a clean and bright room. It was two miles from my work location.

There was no soap. It only had shampoo and conditioner. I had to purchase soap, which should be a staple. The internet was basically non existent. Any time I watched a show it would last for about 5 minutes and then start buffering and eventually come up with an error message. It was the same anytime I used my own devices. (phone & tablet) Upgrade your internet.

I thought the motel was in a pretty area,very quiet and access to local food. A great local breakfast brunch restaurant called Sundance Grill I believe. Although I got a headache from the overwhelming wood scent,I thought it was a pretty room and I can understand the theme.

With the rooms I reserved 2 one for myself and one for my daughter and her family. (1)Neither room has locking bathroom doors. The rolling barn doors gave zero privacy as you could see through the decent opening while closed on the roller. My grandson was in our room with my son in law and daughter and he rolled the door open while I was doing my personal business. Since the door rolls from the outside, I couldn't secure the door shut with my foot or hand. (2) As soon as I got to the room I noticed the bathroom had soil spots on the floor so I purchased cleaning wipes immediately to clean the floor as it was filthy. Pictures included I used 6 wipes in total. Which is sad because it's a pretty room and Im sure the owners put a lot of work into this establishment. Cleaning services are not doing their jobs well. I witnessed upon leaving for an event a swiper mop being used for at least two rooms so this explains the floor issues as the pad appeared to be old and over used. I had to also use a bath towel to clean my room floor when my grandson came over and the towel was filthy within the first 30 min of checking in. The shower was clean. (3)There is no information given in the rooms as to how to reach a staff member of the motel. The rooms did not have a phone to call guest services. There is a coffee machine with cups but without coffee pods or creamer. (4) We were there from Saturday until Monday but only had one roll of TP and half a roll used again I was clueless to where the office was or if the had one. (5)I was texted a door code and wifi password which was fine but no one verified my information upon check in. (6) This is a small beautiful town,it would be a great idea to have things to do while here phamplets in each room. Local restaurants, activities sight seeing. Now will I rebook if I ever come back?? Yes because I believe in supporting local vs big corporation.

I liked that room looked like a cabin and not a motel room. Very nice and clean.

Water pressure was a little low.

Location, room was real nice , comfortable bed .

The light on the air/heat unit lit up the room .

When I hear Motel I don’t have good thoughts. However I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean it looks newly renovated to me.
