Our hosts were friendly and accommodating! Our flight was a little delayed so we ended up arriving later than check-in time, but it wasn't a problem and they met us at the property when we arrived. They had great advice as to where we should visit around the island and even helped us out with transport when we needed it. The apartment itself was so cute and perfect for me and my friends. We are a group of 20 year old girls and we felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. The town itself is great too and there is a beautiful black sand beach about 7 minutes away by car. Overall great experience and 10/10 recommend!

A lot of space, near the beach, nice staff and welcome gifts, and a lot of different kitchen appliances (even a juice maker), free parking

Everything was a little bit old. Strong odor from the cutlery cupboard. Poorly functioning shower doors. Unpleasant smell from nearby garbage bins, worsened by our Sunday arrival when trash hadn't been collected. Uninteresting city surroundings.

Very clean and a lot of space. Great snack bar near bay. Close to the playground, supermarket and bakery. And the best is hospitality of the owners. They are lovely people.

Next to property are a rubbish (public) and the smell isn’t pleasant.

We appreciate the hosts who did everything to make our stay comfortable. We had big kitchen we could prepare meals albo ourselves , parking place and restaurants nearby. San Lorenzo trial and 2 sandy beaches are also really close. The appartment is huge, which makes the stay even more comfortable. Price is reasonable

We were looked after Like family, Thank you for such a lovely stay, everything was perfect. Delightfully run and wonderful apartment in a fantastic location. Everything is close by, shops and restaurants. Swimming too, although if you drive 5 mins to prainha beach, it's the best on the island. The owners were wonderful, thank you Adriano and Terma x

The hosts and the accommodations were equally wonderful. We had a well equipped 2 bedroom, 2 bath home with full kitchen, laundry, sun porch, restaurant next door and veranda with a view of the ocean for just the two of us AND a fantastic bakery across the park. Who could ask for more?

Everything more than met our expectations. We were so happy!

Great place to spend holidays away from tourist masses, I really liked the accommodation and the owners were super nice :)

The apartment is great, very spacious and well equipped. The bedrooms are large, the beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen is large and has everything if you are up to cooking at home. Living and dining space is somewhat smallish compared to other rooms in this apartment. It has a TV, but it doesn't have time shifting, so you are stuck to what is on at the moment of watching. There is also a nice terrace overlooking the main square and church of the village. Location is quite great in terms of proximity to restaurants (just outside the house), whale museum (within walking distance), Cabo de Sao Lorenzo, beach of Sao Lorenzo, beach of Machico (by car). The place is not very calm, so I would recommend this place for people who like to stay up until small hours.

The place is very loud, especially on weekend nights (it seems like it's a party village for locals of greater surrounding area), and the house has little to none sound insulation. Children playground at daytime becomes a teenager spot at night time, and closing all windows does not prevent you from hearing every squeak, and they do that a lot, and until late. What is more, there is a place across the square that plays loud music until small hours making sure you don't fall asleep too early. Public large waste/trash containers and public toilets just outside the house - if the wind comes your way, you get some of that rather unpleasant smell. The same about the restaurant downstairs with frying fish smells. Pools of Canical are not working, and it doesn't seem they are likely to reopen anytime soon. Canical is quite different than other villages, with a large port and industrial-like townscape. It's well worth visiting, but I'm not sure it's the best place to stay unless you enjoy some nightlife. As there are not too many options to stay here, the prices are quite high, so looking back my preference would be to stay in Funchal for the same price and to visit Machico/Canical/Canical from there.
